But property values arent going down because of the surroundings, the greatest examples you can see of that is that new properties in bad areas are still selling at prices higher than the people in the area can afford that's what the whole issue of gentrification ism

@PETERJOHN101 this is horrible rhetoric. You literally just said the only thing that brings down the value is poor peoples presence. How does project housing ruin anything by placing a building? And how does wanting poor people to have housing promote corruption or imply satisfaction with the government's conduct?

@jonothandoeser no,it's not, that's what I'm saying. Section 8 housing vouchers work differently than project housing. Housing VOUCHERS are given to tenants to guarantee rent to the landlord of their choice, landlords don't HAVE to accept section 8. My mom worked for HUD for like 3 years, trust me, I know. I lived in a duplex with neighbors who my mom literally approved their voucher.

@jonothandoeser and actually furthermore to validate what I'm saying, the neighbors I had were people who were displaced because the government tore down one of the projects in the city and gave everyone vouchers to live in private housing. That's why I'm saying tear down the projects lmao

@jonothandoeser fuck. For some reason it deleted my comment. Basically said that's a drastic change, urban to suburban and back isnt. Were my grandparents comfortable moving from Queens to the suburbs? Yes. Would I be comfortable moving from the suburbs to NYC? Yes. Would I be comfortable moving from one city to another city? Idk depends on lots of factors. Would I be comfortable moving from one suburb to another suburb? Depends on a lot of factors. Personally I'm on month 7 of an uncomfortable move from a NYC suburb to a Philly suburb. Now I'm considering moving to EITHER philly or NYC. It's not as drastic a change of culture as going from suburban/urban to what you suggested which islike living without electricity, which, yes some of Appalachia does not have ready electricity.

This policy just promotes the classist attitudes that keep snobbery from people considered upper class alive. And I dont think that the education thing is true. I think you've put suburban life on a pedestal. There is a range of suburban living. And if you're someone who thinks that all people from the suburbs worked hard to get there, then why would all of these people not understand hardship? You're talking about cultural differences not economic. PERSONALLY I have a range of black friends from economic backgrounds and none of what you said is true, the most relevant category I can sense those differences in my life is through race. And yes, if economically advantaged people werent snobby wouldnt things be easier? why dont you think it's that easy?

Planned communities are the type of artificial housing inflation and strategic racialized housing policies that weve seen since the 50s. For example, why are there expensive planned communities that only consist of 2br/1ba townhouses when that's the majority configuration of most affordable housing? Because people create the value. You people are literally just averted to living near poor people. That's also exhibited by calling it "low income" housing, which is a characteristic of the demographic. @jonothandoeser first of all, I told you a personal story about my experiences, nowhere did I judge others by their race and that's not a racial prejudice or bias. The town I grew up in was 80% black therefore, as I said, I knew black people of all economic statuses, and culturally we were all similar regardless of wealth. Idk how you got racial prejudice out of that statement. I simply said that I, as a black person, have never experienced the alienations youve mentioned on economic terms, but I have on racial terms. And I think that the term is worth resentment because theres no inherent superiority of rank, status, or ability. Characteristics that are desirable in one situation arent desirable in others therefore theres no sterile environment where ones rank status or ability is measured against others to determine inferiority. It's a baseless concept, that's why I resent it.

This is sad, and validates a point AOC made about gentrification in opportunity zones. As prices go up in those areas Trump has created no safe haven for impoverished people in this country and accelerated the class war. I was almost on his side.
