People selflessly choose to make a commitment and stick to that commitment, not only because it should (theoretically) be societally encouraged, but also because they would (theoretically) understand that they would receive a more wholesome life and greater spiritual fulfilment from these choices. They choose to defer their gratification to the next generation, have children and live a family life, instead of a life filled with instant gratification and empty material pleasures. Your argument revolves around the notion that humans (and women in particular) are inherently selfish, materialistic, and driven by greed. While I agree the majority of people/women currently fall into this category, it is not impossible that a cultural renaissance could occur and break this cycle. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the most miserable and selfish people/women in the world are people that reject traditionalism.
