A left/right split would produce more harmonious societies in both theoretical countries. The majority of the most harmonious societies in the world also have the most ideologically homogenous populations. The theoretical Leftist project would implode eventually, however, which is likely what would cause war, if anything did.

  2. TheRatstomper Irrelevant. There is still a better chance of peace through Balkanization than there is in the current state, where civil war is more likely. All countries have to do is respect each other's privacy. Good fences make good neighbors. It doesn't matter if there is animosity if the conflicting groups live in different countries and can govern themselves. The namesake of Balkanization, the Balkans, are proof of that. Since they spilt, there has been no war. Imagine that.
