  2. "Smugness and out of touch" Exactly. An actual quote/argument from my silly Leftist cousin: "Education leads to Leftism." I told her I agree with her, not in the sense that she meant, but in the sense that the vast majority of public academic institutions are geared towards Leftist indoctrination and churning out lemmings with an unquestioning acceptance of the Leftist narrative. She was so flummoxed by this answer. Many of them mindlessly consider only formal academic training as the benchmark of intelligence, and do not even notice the Leftist bias within the educational system.
