This is another stream of income for the Palestinian Authority as well, because Israel - unlike any other country in the world - gives the labor tax to the PA. What they do with the money? Digging tunnels? Idk.

In the Netherlands we recently had a youth television program about "entrepreneurs" that had about 1/3 of the time dedicated to OnlyFans girls, which they showcased as "innovative" and "entrepreneurship". It basically was an instruction video on how to become rich that way, on a public broadcaster that is solely meant for teenagers.

  13. There is a valid argument to be against this ban. It is not what Amnesty is saying. It is that many of these women won't even be allowed to go outside anymore because of this ban; they'll be locked up inside and abused even worse. That was the point of debate in the Netherlands before they introduced the ban.

  16.  @smallego8068  Well, issues of morality aside, it is from a purely financial perspective also a terrible idea to promote to teenagers as a career choice. First off because the vast majority don't even make a living wage. And secondly, there's a very limited time-frame for most women to make any money at all that way. And afterwards you have gained nothing that benefits you moving forward to another career. I don't really have anything against OnlyFans itself, but to present it that way is just terribly irresponsible, especially with such a young audience. I mean, they basically presented it as if it was similar to choosing to become a lawyer, or starting a tech business or something.

  17. It's complex, but if you know a bit about Ukraine during WWII you know that you definitely need to look into whoever you invite in that context. Ukraine itself has made this mistake many times over in the aftermath of the war. Not every Ukrainian who fought against the Soviets did so alongside the Nazis, and some of the ones that did, did so only out of necessity. This guy apparently volunteered for the SS though.

  20. That's what usually happens at protests, at least here in the Netherlands. There's too many people to take in police vehicles, so they use buses. Usually they don't even go to the police station. They just unload the bus somewhere and then go back to pick up more people.

Gay rights are very solidified here (and we were the first to legalize gay marriage), but the proposed self-identification law for transgenders (that would allow people to change their official gender) has been under debate for years and has just been declared "controversial", meaning it will not be decided on by the current parliament. Dutch people are progressive, but they're also fairly down to earth, so the really insane ideas generally don't do well here.

  35.  @pontchatrain  It is not about who is accountable. The problem is how such a ban turns out in practice. Will it help those women become somewhat more free or only make matters worse? It is not as if the government can (or should) see everything that happens behind closed doors. If a man decides to forbid his wife from going outside, the government doesn't know that.

  37. If your employer has tot tell you to stop talking and get to work, there's already something wrong. I don't think I've ever heard my boss say that to anyone. We're very well aware that we are at work ourselves. Sure, we may have a chat in between sometimes, but not to a point where we'd have to get our butts kicked back to work. I'd hate to have such unmotivated people around me at work.

Some things however weren't known initially, like the translation of those deplorable chants. She also kept those things separate to avoid the hooliganism from being construed as some sort of excuse, "because there exists no excuse for this".

  44. They do. French police is known for a lot of things, but being gentle isn't one of them. These types of riots are hard though. They don't start out as a big protest in a central place, but they just spring up randomly all over the place. It's not really a protest in that sense; more a burst of anarchy.

  45.  @dawsie  The Jews were forced out of Israel by the Romans, not by Arabs. In modern history, Israel has very much acted as an occupier though. It's a complex situation. Yes, you can find tons of Jewish artifacts in Israel, and there are places that are considered sacred by them in Israel. But the same thing applies to Muslims. They have been living there for centuries, and they too have many places they consider sacred. Gaza is effectively an open air prison nowadays. You can certainly put part of the blame on Hamas for that, but Israel is equally to blame. Who's not to blame though, are the normal families that are forced to live there because the borders are shut. Nor the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians that de facto live in exile outside of Israel, separated from their families. You can't "simply pay" for electricity and water in an area that is almost completely cut off from the world, run by a terrorist organization, and frankly one of the worst hellholes you can currently find on earth. Israel has had Gaza cut off for a long time, and as a result of that it is economically devastated. And now they have deliberately cut off water supplies as an act of aggression. That is a war crime under international law, irrespective of the numerous atrocities committed by Hamas. Don't be equally naive and blind-sided as the dumb lefties in this video. There's no right and wrong side in this conflict. Only misery.
