  1.  @timpinxteren  I don't think it's really that bad here. Gay rights are very solidified here (and we were the first to legalize gay marriage), but the proposed self-identification law for transgenders (that would allow people to change their official gender) has been under debate for years and has just been declared "controversial", meaning it will not be decided on by the current parliament. Dutch people are progressive, but they're also fairly down to earth, so the really insane ideas generally don't do well here.
