  1. Nobody told them to this. The police is investigating what happened here themselves. I suspect these cops are frustrated and angry with these protesters because a lot has been going on in Amsterdam, they've been overworking a lot, and these protesters continue to taunt them, defy orders, ignore a ban on protests, and chant insults to the cops at these protests.

  2. The police is demonstrating that "they provoked us" isn't an excuse. In all seriousness though, the authorities are investigating this incident.
