  1. We have to be. Other than what's needed for survival basically everything we do is distraction from existential dread. We cope with the meaninglessness of life that way. We would go mad if it were not for our ability to distract ourselves.

  2. No, not really. A holographic projection in a relatively controlled environment indoors is a very long way from projecting in the sky, visible from all angles and not just by the human eye but by cameras and radar as well.
