  1. It's not crazy. What you are buying is the enjoyment of daydreaming. It doesn't matter if the chance is actually negligible; the fact that there is a chance at all allows you to daydream. It's just a trick to turn off the rational part of your brain that would otherwise stop you from daydreaming. With a lottery ticket, you can think yeah, but what if? Sure, it can be problematic for some people, but I don't see the problem in that.
