  4.  @dermody2  , that's awesome! I'm pretty low key. I pack in water but I'm planning for rain catchment. I use a sawdust toilet. I have 100 watts of solar. A 12 volt fridge will make ice and 2 - 12 volt UPS batteries store power. Lights are 12 volt LED. Tiny cabin is 8x16 but it suits me fine. Oh... mini wood stove is mandatory as far as I'm concerned. I have about $18k in the cabin and 7 acres, I love that part.

  5.  @dermody2  , I've been kicking around the idea of a solar heater to supplement during the sunny winter days. They are a cheap build with lots of youtube info available. A guy can really be frugal if he's patient. I'm constantly searching Craigslist for a deal. I love doing morning breakfast and coffee on the wood stove and on occasions, I'll put a cast iron meal right inside the firebox. There's just something so cool about being in that cozy little cabin when -20 outside, I just love it.
