@peabase 1. you have no clue what Russia's losses are, and no idea the degree to which Ukraine's losses are even more staggering, so stop pretending you do. 2. There is no stalemate here, because stalemate does not only apply to territory gained or lost. Other metrics like casualties, weapon supply, ammo supply, morale, etc all come into play. It's not Russia begging incessantly for more supplies. 3. If we accept stalemate as the status quo on the ground, then Russia has won. Crimea remains part of Russia, Donbass plus Zaporozhe and Kherson now form part of Russia, Ukraine is not in NATO, Ukraine is bankrupt and begging, Ukraine is demilitarized, NATO is demilitarized, the Azovs are now killed, crippled or captured, it's Russia that is so close to achieving all its objectives, and not Crimea....or you think in a week or so Ukraine will be marching into Crimea, victorious and jubilant?

@cskvision "stalemate" is not a condition determined solely by a moving or static front line. many other factors are involved in this war. as far as supplies, manpower and morale are concerned, this conflict is far from being a stalemate, but hey, if you just want to stare at the front line every day, knock yourself out and keep thinking that is what a stalemate is.

Russia had all its plans with drones from Iran a long long time ago when Russia realized that big arrow offensives are not worth it. NATO is the slowest kid in the class, not "everyone".

@timonsolus no one is claiming that Russia has defeated NATO. The claim is that Russia has demilitarized NATO, meaning stripped NATO of its combat ability by draining NATO of essential weaponry and ammo. Biden was reduced to sending cluster munitions because, as he admitted, the supply of 155 mm shells was gone. NATO's cupboard is bare. Russia has won.

No, Great Dane, the level of Russian support for Iraq was MINIMAL compared to how the US has committed itself to Ukraine. You are not making any sense, and you know it.

@thegreatdane3627 given how NATO has been left weapon depleted and ammo depleted, Russia can claim to have demilitarized NATO. Take that as a victory over NATO if you wish, but to take it as a glorious victory for NATO/Ukraine over Russia is just laughable.

@jooseppib1082 NATO would be a pushover. NATO countries are so woke and soft, at the first sight of body bags being buried, NATO would sue for peace immediately. That's why NATO can no longer fight a war. it can only supply, and not for very long, proxies to do the actual dying.

Good to hear Nick finally admit that Ukraine and NATO have been demilitarized. Yep, Nick, for Kiev to match Moscow is arms and ammo production, NATO will have to keep emptying out its stocks and hope, by some miracle, it can out produce Russia and Russia's allies in the future! In other words, the Russian aim of demilitarization of NATO and Ukraine is bang on course.

As usual, DW gets it backwards. Republicans are not blocking any aid to Ukraine. As soon as Biden agrees to tighten up security on the US border, then Republicans are ready to move forward on aiding Ukraine. It's Biden's refusal to enhance security on his own border that has caused these issues.
