it's a breakaway region. just like the Russian speaking part of Latvia, the Russian speakers of Moldova don't appreciate being told which language to use and when, so they broke away. same will happen in your country soon.

@SerBallister Russia already does respect other countries' rules, and Russia does follow other countries' rules. USA and NATO attacked Serbia in support of the separatists in Kosovo, so Russia attacked Ukraine in support of the separatists in Donbass. Agreed? or do you need to explain the rules a little better?

@torehaaland6921 list the "large scale war crimes" Serbia was found guilty of committing in Kosovo and name the court in which these war crimes in Kosovo were adjudicated.
3
yet another impoverished failed state that wants to derussify under the protection of the EU umbrella, sticking its hand out for EU tax payers to stick a load of cash into the Moldovan coffers. yeah, let's all celebrate that an influx of thousands of gypsies and mafia types are soon to be moving into a neighborhood near you!
2
@gazpachopolice7211 NATO would have done as poorly as it did in the Kabul fiasco of 2021, hence it did nothing.
2
so when it comes to an actual election, the pro Russian candidate won, even though he is a criminal, but in the rigged opinion polls we see a pro EU majority. Got it. Lots of spanking new EU flags on display there! wonder which EU slush fund provided all the funding for these beautiful flags to be handed out?
1
it's the desire for EU handouts that they want, plus a dumping ground for their gypsies and mafia gangs. get real.
1
@SerBallister of course it's a valid argument! It shows perfectly why what the West says on the "international rules based order" is a crock of s**t! you are being educated. how many times you have heard such valid points, and the source of such valid points, is irrelevant. The point is, slowly but surely, even for the dimmest student, you are starting to understand the Russian perspective, and seeing why it is valid. supporting Kosovar separatists = good supporting Donbass separatists = good.

@MG-hk8ny truly, bigots in love with each other
1
@torehaaland6921 You need to improve your reading comprehension skills. I never claimed that Russians have been forbidden to use Russian. Now, when you improve your reading skills we can discuss EXACTLY what Russian speakers have been forbidden to do in Ukraine. Until you read better, and learn the truth, this debate can go no further. read carefully, dunce!
1
@nbgoodiscore1303 of course Romanian speakers don't appreciate having Russian speakers in "their" own country! We know that! We know Moldovan Romanian speakers are russophobic intolerant bigots that are nationalists and fascists! of course. the original Russian speakers of Moldova settled there generations ago, under the USSR. they are there to stay. no big deal if you give them equal rights.
1
@FranFerioli Nah, French speakers in Canada can move back to France if they wish. Without French tanks there's nothing else they can do. Nah, Italian speakers in Switzerland can move to Italy if they wish. Without tanks there's nothing else they can do. Nah, English speakers in Wales can move to England if they wish. Without tanks there's nothing else they can do.
1
@lovyrituraj yep, and those Russian speaking Latvians are not given equal language rights as Latvian speakers, same russophobic problems Ukraine has, so fingers crossed Putin delivers some justice to the Latvian Russian speakers at some point.
1
@AvaT42 just like Quebec is a region occupied by France
1
@pintiliecatalin of course none of the situations I presented are even remotely similar to what is happening in Ukraine! That is my point! France is NOT attacking Canada, BECAUSE FRENCH SPEAKERS IN CANADA HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS. Italy is NOT attacking Switzerland BECAUSE ITALIAN SPEAKERS IN SWITZERLANDHAVE EQUAL RIGHTS! But Russia IS attacking Ukraine BECAUSE THE UKRONAZIS IN KIEV STRIPPED THE RUSSIAN SPEAKERS OF THEIR EQUAL RIGHTS until you understand this bigotted, russophonic dictatorship in Kiev, you will understand nothing of this conflict. you are ignorant.
1
@stevemcgowen the people who win write the laws. it is as simple as that. Kosovo is a break away region of Serbia, and now writes its own laws, because it won. if Brighton Beach defeats the USA in battle, or if the USA declines to fight to enforce US laws in Brighton Beach, then yes, the break away region of Brighton Beach no longer has to live by US laws. In fact, Brighton Beach is an excellent example. The level of illegal employment there, illegals working for cash and refusing to obey the US laws on employment, effectively means the Russian speakers of Brighton Beach DON'T live by US employment laws any longer. What 3rd world school failed to teach you this?
1
@sergeyb8 that's because there was no annexation of Transnistria..
1
@daenerysmax6267 thanks, you make my point for me. in a fair and just society, the official languages in Moldova should be Romanian AND Russian. Just as in Canada, where French speakers are a minority, but the official languages are English AND French. you are starting to grasp the problem.
1
@eksiarvamus oh yes they do, russophobe. These Russian speakers have been there for generations and they aren't moving just to please your bigotted and fascist dreams. Learn to afford them equal rights, or get deservedly crushed. Not a difficult choice.
1
@gazpachopolice7211 no one is forcing anyone to speak Russian, you dunce. it is the right to have Russian as an official language, as it used to be, that Putin is supporting. and so should you.
1
@proselytizingorthodoxpente8304 only to those countries close to Russia that think it a really good idea to strip Russian speakers of their full rights to use their native language. Neighboring countries like Kazakhstan, that retained Russian as an official language, have excellent relations with Russia.
1
@pintiliecatalin You are either ignorant or misinformed! Here are a series of yes/no questions for you to answer. let's see how you do on the test. 1. Have the Moldovan authorities ever proposed a law to compel education in all of Moldova to be in Rumanian? yes/no 2. Have human rights groups ever expressed concern over Ukraine's strict language laws? yes/no (recommended reading Wikipedia, "language policy in Ukraine" 3. a high school in Donbass, where 90% of the community speak Russian as a first language, where the teachers speak Russian as a first language, where the students speak Russian as a first language, would be compelled to give educational instruction in Ukrainian? yes/no once you have answered the questions we will see how informed you are, or how deluded you are. Good luck.
1
@mimisor66 the youth of many poor regions are leaving in droves. so, what's your point? That Transnistria is no different in that regard to the rest of the world? Yes, Transnistria wants autonomy. makes perfect sense. what doesn't makes sense is the West preaching "freedom and democracy" and then refusing such autonomy.
1
@gazpachopolice7211 The Russian Federation didn't exist in 1989, you dope. It was the USSR. But out of curiosity, let's see which warmonger led the USSR to misery in Kabul in the 1980's...ah yes, Leonid Brezhnev, a Ukrainian. makes sense.
1
@proselytizingorthodoxpente8304 yep, the same Kazakhstan that invited Russian troops to restore order recently, the same Kazakhstan that respects Russian speakers on a par with Kazakh speakers. has excellent relations with Russia. Ukraine should have learned.
1
@proselytizingorthodoxpente8304 "Nobody stops them from speaking Russian" so Russian speaking high schoolers in a 90% Russian speaking part of Ukraine have the right to be taught in Russian by their Russian speaking teachers? before you make a fool of yourself and answer, read very carefully "Language Policy of Ukraine" in Wikipedia. You are woefully ignorant. I myself was forbidden from using Russian in class. No lectures need from you, thank you.
1
@proselytizingorthodoxpente8304 and yes they DO have the right to demand that Russian be a state language, as it was in the past! And Kiev has the right to refuse such a request, with the consequence that a war that destroys Ukraine will be the way to solve this issue. This is where we are with the language issue.
1
@pintiliecatalin proper channels like the Minsk Agreements, wherein Ukraine promised autonomy and elections in Donbass and then refused to act on such promises? you mean proper channels like that? you are hilarious. so, yes, once central government has refused autonomy the legal route, freedom fighters have every right to wage war for their dream. happens all the time. No one is ignoring Gagauzia. All power to them! What relevance does the Gagauzia situation have to anything we are talking about?
1
@pintiliecatalin how are you doing on the Test I sent you? just 3 questions, yes/no. will only take you 2 seconds to do.
1
@pintiliecatalin again, you are ignorant. BOTH Lugansk AND Donetsk are majority ethnic Russians and majority Russian native speakers. About 30% are Russian by nationality regarding the passport they hold.
1
@pintiliecatalin yes, sometimes autonomy can be achieved the legal route. sometimes it can't, what's your point?
1
@pintiliecatalin this war is ALL to do with minority rights. If Putin were interested in a land grab, why did he take 30 years to grab land? Why, once Putin had achieved minority rights in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, did he not go for a "land grab" and take over all of Georgia? you are ignorant .
1

1
@jantake keep dreaming. Putin's is popularity is much higher than anyone in the West. Macron lost his majority in parliament, bye bye Johnson, bye bye Truss, bye bye Draghi, bye bye Marin, one by one they are all falling by the way-side. what do you think will happen to the Ukrainian soldiers who committed war crimes? made national heroes, like Bandera?
1
@joeyjojojrshabadoo7462 exactly! the West is prepared to support separatist movements ONLY when said separatist movements embrace "Western values"
1
@Noideaforhandle-m7h thanks for what? policies that have made Moldovans poorer and with even higher energy costs?
1
@maninredhelm Really? Are you confusing the USSR with the Russian Federation? How about you give me the words to google so that I can find evidence of the Russian Federation deporting non Russians from Kaliningrad and the Kuril Islands.
1
correct, EU citizens will have to cough up even more money to keep bailing out another failed economy
1
no you don't, unless you want thousands of gypsies and mafia types to move in next door to you.
1
@SerBallister shame. if you had paid attention to what I said you would understood that the "international rules based order" the West keeps trumpeting is absolute hypocritical bs.
