Meloni makes a good point. what kind of asylum seeker fleeing war leaves his wife, mother and kids behind to fight?

"hardline views on immigration" = legal immigrants only. amazing as this sounds, such a view is quite popular in Italy!

@roro what is the war currently raging in Senegal? in Gambia? plenty of young men "fleeing" from there.
14
@ionnanskilliorus6877 so if they are fleeing brutality and repression, why not seek refuge in the first safe place? Afghans would be safe in Iran or Pakistan. Iraqis would be safe in Jordan. Gambians would be safe in Senegal. Senegalese would be safe in Mali. why head to Europe, so far away and. for a poor person, bloody expensive to get to?
4
yeah, fingers crossed Meloni will get into power and then unite with Hungary to start blocking the far left ideology pouring out of Brussels these days
3
@sudipjang7867 avoiding military call up, and they are going to places where they are legally allowed to enter, passing through the correct ports of entry, as required by law. . understand the difference?
3
@johncollins2037 Spain, Italy, Greece, UK, but not Hungary. Hungary built a fence and stopped them. Poland and Lithuania build fences too, so that route was closed too.

@ionnanskilliorus6877 no one is blaming the people who flee at all. They get what they can. Many of us blame weak European governments for admitting illegal immigrants and we want it to end. We only insist that the laws on the books are followed, not waived. If Europe wants open borders and limitless immigration, then pass a law allowing that, don't have laws you refuse to enforce. They enforced immigration laws on the Poland Belarus border, why not on the Italian border?
3
@caranaar she is NOT threatening a blockade against neighboring countries. all traffic sailing into France and Slovenia etc will be as normal. No neighboring countries will be affected at all. The only country affected will be her own Italy, where no ships full of illegal immigrants will be allowed to dock. this is common sense, and it follows Italian law, not extremist! Australia does the same. Is Australia extremist?
2
@caranaar next time you try to enter any EU country without any documentation, let's see you call the officer arresting you "extremist"!
2
@p_ness and in Africa?
2
@ionnanskilliorus6877 Japan has almost ZERO immigration. ditto Korea. are their demographics in trouble? a wave of immigration gonna save Japan you think? Think again.
2
@petergoodwin7038 quite the contrary. the government passes immigration laws and then refuses to enforce them, erasing the line that was set in law. It is this willful disregard for the law, as exemplified by the Left, that has led the public to back Orban, the Swedish right, and now Meloni. you astound me that you don't see this.
1
@petergoodwin7038 they are not leaving their children and wives in a "war zone". I was using "war zone" sarcastically. they are leaving their wives and children in places with no war at all, like Senegal and Gambia. Sources on number of men? use your eyes! look at the composition of the hordes that are descending on Europe. you need me to do your homework for you? look at the video of all the men forcing their way over the fences between Melilla and Morocco! How many women to you count? How many men? Look at the boatloads coming ashore in Kent. How many women do you see?
1
@johncollins2037 they don't, unless there is some info in a data base as the documents are scanned. so what's your point?
1
@ionnanskilliorus6877 exactly. so what's your point? I would fully support any nation to turn way anyone arriving at the border with no or incorrect documentation. why don't you?
1
@ionnanskilliorus6877 absolute nonsense. the only demographic problem in European countries is too many immigrants. the economies of Europe don't need more immigrants. the economies of Europe need less regulation and for governments to stop meddling, step aside, and let capitalists take care of it. work visas can be issued if needed for specialist positions, otherwise, immigrants are not needed. case in point...need more nurses? then train people to be nurses instead of importing them!
1
@ionnanskilliorus6877 do you think Japan will be in total demographic disarray and economic depression due to a lack of immigrants? no? why not? please explain.

@donquijotedelamancha3529 indeed, so how about, from the comfort of your sofa, you stop commenting on anyone else's life for the rest of your life?
