@Commander_ZiN no one is angry about it if the delegates are all paying their own way. If my taxes are contributing to it, I would rather my taxes go to something more useful, productive and beneficial

@Commander_ZiN are you suggesting that Europe is in the mess it is because not enough discussions of important issues happened? I contend that Europe is in the mess it is because too much talking happened and not enough clear thinking. More discussions will do nothing to arrive at better policy. Nothing at all.

@Commander_ZiN the question was "what is more productive?". acting is more productive than discussing. what is more productive, a hound that chases a rabbit and kills it for dinner, or a group of 40 hounds meeting in Prague to discuss catching rabbits?

"there's a huge interest in such a platform" there's also a huge interest in having the tax-payer cough up for a lovely long weekend in Prague for the lucky delegates. Moldova hasn't got enough cash to pay for winter energy supplies, but Moldova has enough cash to go to a swanky meeting to explain that it doesn't have enough cash to pay for its winter energy bills.

@Diana1000Smiles right now, for Europe, seems like there is no hope. There is no one saying that renewables can generate the energy levels needed to sustain current European lifestyles as things stand. The Prague crowd might get applause for denying this fact with fantastical speeches about Green energy, but it will solve nothing.

@stc3145 that's the choice. either deal with the "evil dictators" of the world, be they the leaders of Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, or suffer a horrendous drop of living standards indefinitely. Looks like we will find out how far this experiment will go this winter and beyond.

@Commander_ZiN i am not against the people meeting to talk in Prague, if you or they pay for it. I just don't see any chance that the world will be improved at all by such a meeting, and given the results in Europe of countless such meetings, I think there is a fair chance more horrendous decisions will come from this talking shop.

@tonylupone1157 save the tax-payers' hard earned money and reduce my carbon footprint by meeting anyone with any bright new idea by Zoom. I don't have time. unlike these bods, for endless claptrap. Would send out a questionnaire asking all of them to list the pros and cons of sanctions. just to get a feel for how much pain some Europeans want to go through this winter and beyond.
