@Hofer2304 A constitution would need multiple people agreeing. The best method is still the BDFL method, but I must emphasize that they must be benevolent. If they're malevolent, then nothing they do really matters and you might as well abandon the project.

@Hofer2304 What I'm saying is that if the project is taken over by malevolent forces, then the only real option is to abandon it. This is why projects all need to have a BDFL, so that they actually get maintained and continue to be useful.

@Hofer2304 Getting a group of cats to agree on a direction to move is just about impossible, and with some projects, that's what it's like if you try to organize them in certain ways. This is why the BDFL system is still the best for open source, but again I stress that the leader of the project must be benevolent. If it's an MDFL then the project is ruined, and if it's run by committee and that committee is taken over by a bunch of malignant personalities, you get Rust. A constitution would be much the same as running it by committee, only the rules would be more enshrined.

@brianbergmusic5288 For a certain group of people, community really is just a shared userbase, and they love dividing everyone and categorizing them into buckets with 20 or 30 keywords. For real human beings, the ones who have passion for the project and care about it, that's where you'll find the real community. Just needs better organization.

Text only command prompts are better than a GUI. You can accomplish so much with only the keyboard and your hands on the home row.

@defeqel6537 I'm already writing my own language. Have been for a number of years now, I just need to acquire the gumption to open source it and find a platform that's decent. I'm somewhat leery of "free" platforms, but after Microsoft bought GH, I said hellll no.

@freedomgoddess I specifically make a point of targeting C11 with my projects. You get standard threads and _Generic that way. Although, I still wish C had function and operator overloading along with C++-esque templates.
