Nevermind that part of Congress's explicit responsibility is to "provide the the general welfare" or that the government dirrectly paying privately owned hospitals is about as moderate a position as the government paying private civil engineering companies to maintain roads and bridges. But sure, going with the will of the people to do a completely moderate thing that the Constitution arguably demands is anti-American and extremist, but using legalized bribery to override the will of the people is fine... Fuck these rich assholes. If we can use tax dollars to save American lives from fire, dangerous products, dangerous working conditions, murderers, foreign threats, etc we can use it to save Americans from things like cancer. Them arguing otherwise is to drench their hands in our blood and take the stance that the Government only exists to preserve US power and business interests.
