As soon as I heard that line in the trailer I was thinking, they've not been around the other races. How do they know if their feet are big? Wouldn't it just be normal to them? Plus Tolkien never said they had big feet, just hairy ones.

It's horrible writing. What is it with people trying to stan this show? Galadriel isn't flawed. She's annoying and OP. The real Galadriel is flawed and only realizes her dreams of ruling a kingdom were wrong when she rejects the One Ring. She was also so powerful, after the defeat of Sauron, she "cleanses" an area by completely destroying it to where no trace remains after her husband Celeborn kills the remaining forces. This is because the real Galadriel loved every living creature so much, it was extremely difficult for her to kill and that's why she didn't take part in the Kinslaying. You'd know that if you had any idea what you're talking about. If you want to experience good writing, read the book or watch Jackson's LOTR films.

It's not even that you know she's in the other books, she's never in danger anyway because she's clearly too powerful to be. She killed a Troll by herself. Something the best fighters in LOTR couldn't do. I don't know why they even bothered fighting the wars when the clearly could have just sent her and it would be all be over in seconds.

No it's not. I am a LOTR fan, and this isn't Tolkien in the slightest. So what "fix" am I supposed to get from something that doesn't look like Middle Earth, they don't speak like it's Middle Earth, and they don't act like the characters Tolkien wrote? The Elves especially are horribly depicted. They've made them extremely human which they aren't. They are immortals that glow, are very tall, and agile. They would never be mistaken for a human in appearance much less attitude.

LotR deals with racism to a degree too, but like GoT, it's not based on skin color. Dwarves and Elves have a deep seeded mistrust of each other bordering on hate at times. Claiming racism is only about skin color shows you look at everything from a US perspective like the writers of this show. I'll remind you the biggest and most horrific act of racism occurred to people of the same skin color as the perpetrators. Because Tolkien doesn't contain US type of racism, because he was English/European, them adding it in looks stupid. Especially so blatantly. Maybe write a fantasy based on US culture instead of using one based on European culture if you want that in it.

This can't in anyway connect to the movies so if you're looking for that, it's not going to happen. If they did they'd be sued by WB so fast it would make your head spin. That's why all the characters are wrong and don't follow Tolkien's work at all, because Jackson made such a faithful adaptation that it hamstrings anyone that doesn't use the same rights.

It's the fall of Numenor which occurs because Sauron convinces them they should be immortal like the Elves so they turn away from their god and worship Melkor. That's the story they are telling according to the showrunners. There is an Elven kingdom along the shores in the Southland that gets invaded and destroyed so that could be what they are setting up, but it doesn't really affect what happens in the West. It has nothing to do with Numenor because it's destroyed by their god by a wave and Valinor is closed off allowing only those with permission to enter.

Someone explained it pretty good I think. The writers are all Americans so when they hear the lines spoken with an English accent, they sound better than they are to them. That they are relying on the accents to make the dialogue more profound than it is and sound more poetic.

Considering orcs are Elves that Morgoth twisted as soon as they woke up, it's even more insightful! I do wonder if orcs that were born get to go to Valinor when they die since they are technically Elves and didn't choose to worship Melkor. A question for the ages, but I'd imagine they are denied resurrection.

These guys are JJ Abrams acolytes. They've already inserted several mystery boxes that will be empty. Hollywood will be better when all the Bad Robot (I prefer Bad Reboot) people get fired and never heard from again.

I had to check the live to see what you talking about. Hilarious! He's a real filmmaker though! For reals!
