Unix, Your "outdated" remark is quite the hubris. Who made your personal fantasies the world-standard?

I worked at a vegetarian restaurant in Japan for 7 years. There are 2 normal ways to say "vegetarian" in Japanese: 「ベジェタリアン」OR「採食主義者」(sai shoku shu gi sha). There are some derogatory ways too, like phrases that translate into "grass eater" etc.

@eFrog27 Efrog, there are almost zero vegetarian restaurants in Japan. Admittedly there are several in Tokyo, a few less in Kansai, and almost zero everywhere else. I worked 7 years at a vegetarian restaurant in Osaka, many years ago. . Buddhism is actually not believed by very many in Japan. I would guess that only 10 to 15% of the population really follows it. It is just a cultural thing, to visit ancestor graves etc. Japan is much more deeply involved with Shinto religion, altho again, there are few true believers in that religion, as most just observe the festivals and pray for good luck at shrines etc. Probably around 80% or more of Japanese are really Agnostic or Atheist.

@J Anda Anda, Unix is saying traditional marriage is "outdated", when it was traditional marriage culture that got Japan to be number 8 or 9 in the world in population in the first place. . No country will prosper long-term without traditional marriage.

What is ”dating"? Such a weird concept.

@unixtreme Unix, shame on you for even attempting to twist the obsrved facts around 180 degrees. Fortunately, your attempt is very poor. So good on you for a very poor attempt to promote lies.

What is "dating"? Who started this strange custom? Perhaps it's one reason for the lower number of marriages and births today?

@commentarytalk1446 It isn't "necessary", as there are quite a few Japanese people either willing to make the effort, or else looking for a ticket out of the country.

@commentarytalk1446 Commentary, I've lived in Japan over 1/4 century. Your recent comment is correct, but the first comment is not.
1
@commentarytalk1446 Commentary, to bring more clarity to your future posts, you should write something like: "It is often necessary" or "It is usually a good idea". "Necessary" is incorrect, as you have noted yourself.

@commentarytalk1446 Sorry to disappoint you in my "failure" of pointing out your error.

@commentarytalk1446 Commentary admitted his mistake, and then unadmitted it. OK.

Sadly, most Japanese have no concept of God.

Who invented "dating"?

@unixtreme Unix, OK, so even after I show that all the top 10 birthrate countries are conservative, and 5 of the lowest are Progressive, you still are in denial . Continue to gaslight if you want, but remember that you are lying to yourself.
