  1. At present India has very limited options. Instead of all work towards a goal and not at cross purposes to achieve parochial and personal goals, India may yet recover and progress. Individuals and parties are least of India’s problems. It is the bureaucracy and other constitutional institutions that have to come up and perform. Not the least the incompetent media who have contributed precious little to Nation building.

  2. Letting "major" political parties express views can't be said to be "not neutral". The media has to give equal opportunity to all. Letting everybody speak is neutral. Knowledge or ignorance is revealed only when one opens her/his mouth.

  3. From the frying pan into the fire? Do you sincerely expect improvements. Look at the resins for slow progress. The main reason is that all institutions and states take sides and work at cross purposes never looking beyond the tips of flat noses. No party has a magic wand or the Midas touch.

When the media, opposition, "experts", activists and about everybody (including here) repeatedly say "Modi" instead of "GoI", do we take it that 'We the people" are so obsessed with personalities that we prefer dictatorship over democracy. I make the statement, not in defence of any INDIVIDUAL, I make the statement in defence of democracy... Media....please...., opposition please, “Experts” please, activists please, opinion writers please – do the right thing for the Nation

  5.  @deepphilip6971  In our type of democracy as opposed to the Presidential system in the USA, is it right to say Modi Government (instead of saying GoI)? In a Presidential system like in the USA, the President is elected separately to run the administration. Hence there it is said Trump administration or Biden administration. Are we aping without thought?

  8.  @manjulashanmugasundaram706  That is only a created perception or a false image propped up, either by the Government , opposition or the media. Any of these institutions may be doing it with vested interests. If everybody takes anybody’s name every time and everywhere it will become the default. That is what is happening. E.g. BJP thinks it may help them; Opposition thinks it may help them; media thinks it will create a shock and awe effect. In reality what matters is only roti, kappa and Makan. And of course sentiments at the hustings. Don’t perpetuate the mirage. Let us talk about GOI and its policies Not discuss individuals

  10.  @anu-20-11  The “problem” now is the digital media. Then Indira etc. was not used as much in daily conversations. Because communications have facilitated geometrical increase in the number of people expressing g instant opinions (like ours here) in the plethora of digital platforms (including unlimited TV channels etc) , the real issues are drowned in the cacophony. Media also participates similarly eclipsing critical issues behind names (Like Namo, Raga, Didi etc...). Who’s is discussing issues...except for people like ila, DK and most times SG? All mast heads are like Modi this Modi that instead of highlighting the matter under discussion. E.g. Modi let’s Nepal etc..... instead of India let’s Nepal..... It was always UPA and NDA even a decade back. The apparition of individuals is never ever created by the individual..it is the public and media who create Demi gods out of nobody
