  1. A good debate in the august house, for a change. If consensus is democracy is our electoral politics the right way to elect governments? If all political parties have to agree on a legislation, why stop at 13. Why not the 100s of other political parties too, who each have a following but are unrepresented in the parliament, for a true consensus? No political dispensation should be allowed to bulldoze if the intend of reforms is anything other than progress and the welfare of the Nation. Facts too have to be presented in the real sense as represented in any bill. For instance, this bill says (paraphrased) that the centre will guide the use of District fund (which is to be used by the Districts to repair the environmental damage caused by mining, but is lying unused by the districts for decades) if it is not used by the districts for the purpose as laid down in a laid down timeframe. This clause is entirely different from usurping the power of the states as presented in this video…yes, English is a difficult language. It can be used and misused with equal dexterity by those who are proficient. But misleading is not a worthy way to use language. If our children and their children are to live in an India which is at least as good or bad as it is now, reforms and privatization have to be implemented with haste. We have already lost decades due to inaction for a variety of reasons. Disclaimer: I am not making a political comment but for a determined Governance so that India does not remain a laggard democracy.
