Yes, Ila you are right; if we all recognise our responsibilities India is in a slightly better position to recover faster. It is very wrong to say that the econoimic situatuon caused by the “lockdown” world over is manmade. The “lockdown” may not have been necessary if there was no COVID-19 going around!!! Let the semantics be right. With COVID-19 a Nation has to fight a war on two fronts. Health and economy. Without a lockdown, the health may have been so badly affected that the fear factor would have kept the population away….even if the “workers” were ready to work for fear of hunger I am not sure there would have been work with dead bodies strewen on the streets. This is not in my imagination, I have seen it here in NY personally, first hand, where the lockdown came in late. A NY coped with it is and is slowly but unsurely trying to limp back. A NY like situation in Mumbai would have been disastrous for India. We have to take it from there. All stakeholders are equally responsible to get the economy back on track. We can’t Expect any Government to serve breakfast in bed. It can best help us to help the chicken lay eggs.
