Comments by "" (@kallachi729) on "7% growth doesn't mean much; Indian economy employs fewer people today than in 2019" video.
Old wine in old bottle. Elementary Dr. Watson, unless there is 7% (17%?) growth, there can’t be more employment. We are the second largest populated (soon to be the largest) Nation in the world. We are just 70 years old as a polity, after our colonisers left (with sizable loot?) and we got Independence. The growth in relative terms have been phenomenal. Politics by nature is diverse. In an evolving large and diverse as diverse can be Nation like India it can at times get beduffled. I wonder, why economists pass judgements in silos. Historical past, demography, natural resources, population etc. etc. play a major role in economic development. In relative terms, considering all variables, India has been progressing at a much faster pace than rest of the world since the past three decades. Tail piece: Universities churn out academic details and are less practical in analysis. Just saying.

@Vizorfam Good that you are expressing your views. But again just academic, I m afraid. Equitable distribution of wealth has nothing to do with capitalism. For distribution of wealth through any means first THE WEALTH has to be created. Only capitalism can create wealth. Look around you…even China (have you heard the ilk of Jack Ma etc..?) embraced capitalism (remember Deng Xio ping?) in the late 1980s to become a sizable economy in a matter of 45 years. Enjoy…. Doing is far difficult than just writing.

@Vizorfam No. It is that wealth which is redistributed as subsidies etc... In all societies disparities exist . Even in developed Nations. It is taking more time in India to reduce this gap merely because of the population. Look at the bug picture without prejudice and preconceived ideas. Enjoy.

@chinmayshetye3 Sure Chinmay. Scholars are needed. But what they say is not always the dictum.Like all of us they too have prejudices. A comment section is not a place to present copious data. What I have expressed is also A VIEW. A view from some one who have seen both sides of the world (West and India, lived in both places) and interacted with people of both worlds for over half a century. If you are really interested, a lot of data on the economies of various nations are available on the internet for free. Else you can start with Ruchir Sharmas books. BTW even in developed countries there is a lot of disparity in living standards of people. It is just that because of the progress they have made over centuries, the general standard of living is higher than in the developing countries. Bye. Enjoy. Forward Ho!

@chinmayshetye3 rest of the world. Been following for seventy years. I am not talking in absolute terms. Only rate of growth. To catch up with China or the West it will take a few decades more. Enjoy.

@abseiduk Some pertinent points. But Abseiduk, you can’t fool all of the people all of the time and it has been more than 7 decades since Independence. We lost time till 1991 for various reasons. We must realize that no where in the world there is equality; Nowhere in the world does everyone gets what she wants. India is particularly different because of the size of population. Nothing can happen overnight. There is no place for pessimism. Tailpiece: Everything in the world including (especially) religious texts are a mix of fact and fiction. It is difficult to discern where fact begins and fiction ends and vice versa. That is how it is. Fact is not an absolute. For immediate facts wherever you are Smell the coffee and get the picture. We are moving. Enjoy. Forward Ho!
