Replace anybody. Nobody is indispensable. But it is obvious that in the short term the economy can be propped up only by spending money that we don’t have( print, cut taxes what ever). When the money comes in, by way of direct payment or whatever, it will be spent only on food and such necessities...which will not be much. Very few will buy a new tv, phone, house etc... a lot will be saved. Banks in any case have excess liquidity. We can go on and on...experts can go further. But in these times of a pandemic it is not only about the economy. It is also about the people; their psyche. You can’t find solutions in text books. So, let us cut the rhetoric and prepare for a long haul. It will be a while before it is ‘life as usual’.
