In discussing politics, the emphasis is on how political parties maneuver to win elections. I have a sneaky feeling that the media programmes are channeled (pun intended) in such a way as to give an impression that winning elections is the ultimate in democracy. There should be more discussions on how one party or the other when in power will make a difference to the progress and well being of the Nation. It is all about economy – roti, kapda and makkan. We must keep these as the corner stone of political discussions rather than castes, defections, machinations etc. Tailpiece: The illusion that breasting the tape is the ultimate in democracy has to be removed.
