  1. For a moment forget the study. I am in NJ just across the Hudson from NY. We all, by now know that the worst hit city in the whole of the world is NY. At the peak, NY required about 4-5 times the hospital beds required. For most part of April and May (till now) dead bodies lined up the streets of NY although in refrigerated vans. This situation came about because NY did not implement any type of lockdown until it was too late. It has taken NY about 3 months to flatten the curve. So study or no study, if a city like Mumbai (where I was born) had not locked down when it did, the condition would have been pathetic. Academic studies ( even in case of economy for that matter) are just that- academic. This study referred here was shunned by many, including India and the much respected Dr. Fauci long back. With the experiences in Wuhan, Tehran and NY we don’ t require academic models to discern the behavior of this virus. The controversy on the various models worldwide is just political and to be ignored.
