  1. A Lot of ordinary Indians, economists in India and the world, many “experts” who attend media events etc…, do not seem to think so. If being populist to include tax cuts etc as was done in many budgets in the past is the hallmark of a “good budget”, he may be right. But if the budget is expected to take India from being a laggard democracy, then, unfortunately HE is wrong and probably he knows it too. Tailpiece: You can either be true to oneself or be a politician. You can’t be both. Right? Irony of democracy.
