A déjà vu. In India for decades, we see “raids” on politicians, especially on those who had risen from "humble" beginnings in the party cadre, and seem to have amassed wealth (in their name and the names of their near and dear ones). Nothing much comes out of these “allegations”, as very very unfortunately our judicial procedures give enough elasticity in its procedures and proceedings to take such cases to one’s grave. That such cases are registered with documentary evidence of such wealth is a reality. It is also true, that in a couple three decades these politicians could not have built such wealth from known sources of income. Such wealth will require political influences to raise huge wealth, the secrets of which are openly known but rarely discussed by the media (who may carry their own agenda in such matters). Tail piece: That which is built with political influence will require greater political influence to to be exposed and brought down. Like the straight drive through the V in cricket, in politics too timing is extremely important to beat the defenders and score maximum. And unlike in cricket this stroke need not always be played with a straight bat. Elementary Dr. Watson.
