  1. first, the arabs forced its demography to change in their favors, thru arab bedouin tribes, later, the french abused locals on top of stealing their land, also in favor of ppl they felt 'comfortable' with (french, iitalians, etc, who arguably, unlike most arab settlers, left when french rule ended)..
