All the other nonsense just came up in face saving efforts when Russia realized their goal of taking ukraine in quick manner had zero chance of happening. And there would be no way to demilitarized ukraine or put more Russia friendly puppets in leadership there without taking ukraine anyway. Humiliated much?

  5. The goal was and is to take ukraine. Russia just realized they can't and tried to come up with a less humiliating stated goal so they looked less like total inept fools. There is no way to change regime in ukraine to Russia friendly puppets or to demilitarize ukraine without taking ukraine. Hope that clears up your confusion.
