If you are not from a rice eating culture, you of course wont know how to make rice. All you have to do is the 2 to 1 rule, 2 parts water to 1 rice, bring to boil, lower to simmer, cover and in exactly 20 minutes youll have perfect rice. Washing is optional. You dont have to. You can also buy a rice maker, very cheap, put rice, water and salt (I forgot the salt) in the pot, push the little lever down and when its done the lever will pop up and leave it on just warm, wait another 5 minutes to allow the extra moisture to evaporate and youll have perfect rice. The reason the girl found the rice nutty tasting is because its Basmati rice, grown in India. Regular rice wont ne nutty.
