Comments by "Scilly Automatic" (@scillyautomatic) on "Prosecution shows photos alleging Hannah Guiterrez had live ammunition on 'Rust' set" video.
From the responses I've gotten I am realizing that the are grown up adults who have never been exposed to even a job safety briefing, let alone been around guns at all.

There is no excuse whatsoever for an armorer to not keep complete control of all arms and ammo that is under her responsibility. That said, no one can be responsible for the death accept the person holding the fire arm.

Since some people have never seen these rules, here they are. The rules still apply on a movie set. Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. Always keep the muzzle of the firearm pointed in a safe direction. Always keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard unless you intend to fire the weapon. Wear appropriate ear and eye protection when discharging the firearm. If there are children in the home, use child safety locks or other commercially available locking mechanisms on your firearms and/or keep your firearms locked in a secure location accessible to adults only. Keep your ammunition locked in a secure location away from the firearms. Familiarize yourself with and obey all Federal, State, and local laws regarding the purchase, possession, carrying, use, storage, and disposition/sale of firearms.

@davefromflorida I stand behind what I said. If you are holding a weapon you are 100% responsible to check the weapon. "Assume all firearms are loaded" is the rule. Additionally, on a film set, Baldwin SHOULD have challenged anyone who suggested that the weapon not be checked.

@Naturefan354 Good question. The rules have to be augmented for a film set but the basic rules, the blueprint, remain. I assume you are not suggesting that they were all guiltless because the scene called for pointing the gun at a person. In this case, the individual with the firearm is still required to verify that there are NO rounds in the gun in rehearsal and verify blanks for a take or a hot rehearsal.

Greymatter-to3th ... well, AFTER you check the gun WITH the person at whom it is to be pointed, then you both know the gun is safe.... I know you people are just playing the devil's advocate but honestly it sounds like you have never been around a gun or even a job safety talk. smdh

@Naturefan354 Yes. The rules still apply. Did you read my response? Extra care has to be exercised on a set because of the scenario mentioned (you only mentioned one scenario). Did I say that every actor follows these rules? I did not. Not even every armorer follows the rules but that is not an excuse to ease the rules. If you are trying to suggest that either the armorer or Baldwin are not responsible for their actions, please say so.

@user-sj5ju4jb7t Go heavens! Where do you live?? Not near other people, I hope.

Greymatter-to3th OK. I see what you are getting at. But the basic rules remain. On the set it is understood that an actual firearm will be pointed at a person or thing that the gun handler does NOT intend to kill or destroy. So, that rule is augmented to allow for pointer and pointee to check the firearm. I would say we agree if you are not saying that any of the 5 basic rules are done away with.

I hope she gets a fair trial.
