The average malayali is more educated than the average Indian, but education doesn't count for shit when you have no sense of nationhood or policies to encourage entrepreneurship. Instead what kerala had for decades was leftist attempts at state regulated economies, something which didn't lead to economic collapse just because of the foreign monies deposited by NRIs..
