@gullygullible9774 Not forgetting that he's also in favour of stopping benefits to disabled people. What a nice man he is - NOT

@MuhammadIsmail-uq6nc So now you are comparing train drivers to road sweepers. Fk me, if you manage to get thru the assessments I’m so looking forward’s to when you have your first brake defect at 100mph on the down line in autumn with leaf fall in full effect on a rainy day. Your wake up call is in the post big fella…

@brucemitchell4895 Do you work? If so did you think you would be getting the same money now as when you first started? Have you ever had a pay rise? Do you work 39 weekends out of 52? Do you read the Daily Mail?
2
@El.Cid17 Of course you do.

Nice to see another MP on a salary of 6 figures plus expenses who votes against giving disabled people appropriate benefits comment on train drivers hours and wages being too high. I wonder how many people he’s had throw themselves in front of his desk and how many hours he actually works? Maybe he’s worried about getting to the Emirates for another hospitality freebie….

@davidjames3080 Train drivers or other rail workers ( as there are lots of other grades taking strike action ) aren’t to blame that teachers, nurses or anyone else are getting crap money, that’s the fault of the government. Most people that voted to give the Tories a huge majority never bothered to look at their voting records. Stand outside clapping for nurses all you want David but putting a party into power that constantly votes against giving nurses & teachers a decent wage is both stupid & hypocritical. Your talk of children committing suicide in comparison to train drivers is nonsense it’s nothing compared to what drivers have to put up with over their working life time ( I had 6 attempts) It sounds like you’ve been taken in by the RW gaslighting David and that’s focusing on one role in an organisation that has hundreds of different jobs that haven’t had a pay rise. It’s also funny that whilst you are complaining about train drivers going on strike you haven’t mentioned the teachers strike. Yes, they throughly deserve a pay rise but please stop going down the usual route of comparing two totally different jobs. If your son gets through all the assessments and line/stock training then I’d wager he won’t be telling you it’s as easy to be a driver as the media has led you to believe.

@brucemitchell4895 So on that basis your will keep voting tory - the ones that consistently vote in parliament to not give junior doctors any pay rises. Makes sense mate😂
1
@brucemitchell4895 Train operating companies made 325 million profits in 21/22 despite Covid. This years profits are set to top 400 million so yes you can pay what’s been earned Bruce. One reason the unions are asking for a pay increase for their members as without those under worked over paid drivers no one would get any where including you junior Drs.
1
@brucemitchell4895 As for the magic money tree the tories seemed to give it a good shake when it came to their mates for PPI and those office workers, bankers etc to sit at home for a year watching Netflix. Perhaps have a pop at those people as that’s the real reason why inflation is at a 40 year high.
1
@brucemitchell4895 I’d say there’s lots of support from the general public but not from any GB news viewers as it’s essentially a televised version of the Daily Mail where everyone’s angry at everyone else stoked up by presenters on 6 figure salaries for working a few hours a day. I’d say they are the ones that are overpaid not someone who gets up at 3am and has the responsibility of over a 1000 people in the rush hour.
1
You could apply.
1
@brucemitchell4895 Industry standard Bruce, that and union members fighting for decent pay and conditions. Maybe you could join a decent union then have a similar pay rate. So are you saying that someone who works Mon to Fri every weekend and bank holidays off and regular hours pressing a few buttons is worth more than someone entrusted to work a passenger train with excess of a thousand People behind them? Do you actually use the trains ? There’s no morality behind asking for a pay rise in line with inflation which is what drivers and other rail staff have always had for years. Have you never had a pay increase? Or do you just keep accepting not getting much at all?
1
Well done for proving that a lot of the population are gaslit sheeple..
1
@MuhammadIsmail-uq6nc You’ve never done the job so how do you know so much about it and the people who do the role? Could it be you are just following the usual media bollox?
1
@edaleman2758 Could it be that Muhammed is making everything up? You can’t just apply to be a train driver. You have to either be already qualified on another line or work for the company and go through the line of promotion route.
1
@brucemitchell4895 How long’s a few hours? Is that what the daily Mail said Bruce? How do a lot of people that work in the NHS get to work? As for being easy work, you’ve never done the job so how would you know? Is it the media gaslighting you again mate?
1
@edaleman2758 London Underground tried directly recruiting train drivers about 15 years ago and not one of them passed the assessments, mainly getting stuck on the defect handling stage. GB rail also tried it and then reverted to taking drivers from other lines. You often see train drivers positions advertised on job websites but these require you to be fully licensed and experienced on certain routes.
1
@MuhammadIsmail-uq6nc You must know more than me then Muhammad as I only worked on the railway for nearly 4 decades with 33 years as a driver and 12 as an instructor. As I previously mentioned they did have one attempt within my company for Direct recruitment but none of the applicants made it past the stock training. I trained quite a few people who were degree educated and were thick as shite when any form of real world common sense was needed. Maybe you are degree educated and think you have some form of entitlement to earn more than people who sit on the front and are in charge of up to 1,300 people in the peak hours. Despite this, you won’t fit in well with people if you do actually qualify then cross a picket line because you think that you and your colleagues are overpaid idiots…..
1
@edaleman2758 Maybe they took a role within the company then applied through line of promotion Ed. No direct recruiting has taken place on the main line for years. You can’t even apply for a job as a main line driver if you worked as a tube driver as the main line operating companies don’t consider tube drivers to be qualified enough despite some lines working parts of the same route or alongside the main line with the drivers needing to be licensed accordingly.
1
@davidjames3080 Welcome to the world of having a degree doesn't give you entitlement to earn more than other people. I suggest your son takes an electrician or plumbers course. All my mates are on 75k plus. One who worked at the new Spurs ground was earning a grand a day PAT testing.
1
So is it a train drivers fault that teachers get 35k or do you think it’s the fault of the tory government and the myopic, gaslit fools that put them in charge? Wake up.
1
@gullygullible9774 Apparently Muhammad’s applied to be a driver as it’s unskilled and a really easy job to get. I think that he’s spent far too much time soaking up Gbeebies and their gaslighting.
1
@samjones7038 Train drivers don’t earn as much as a premiership footballer. That’s how silly your comment is Sam.
1
@samjones7038 Well as a train driver who is married to a school teacher I can see both sides of the fence. What you’ve highlighted is how easy it is for the media ( Right wing ) to gaslight the general public, yourself included. If you actually think that things like weekends and bank holidays off, protection against harassment and bullying, proper meal breaks, maternity and paternity leave etc came from the goodness of employers hearts rather than hard fighting by unions and their members you need to give your head a very big wobble Sam. As for train drivers finishing their shifts at the end of duty you are wrong again. Most train drivers have problems with sleeping properly due to the extreme shifts involved and cases of stress and sleep deprivation are high then you have the added bonus of something that no teachers have to encounter - someone deciding to end their life in front of the train you are driving. ( Ive had 6 attempts the last one took me nearly 10 months to get over ) You’ve also highlighted how easy it is for the people on £1000 an hour telling those on minimum wage that the ones on £35 are the problem. If you are a teacher I’d expect you to have sussed the gaslighting by now. Have a read of any of Rees-moggs ( William not Jacobs) books as the answers of dividing a nation for the benefit of the wealthy are there..
1
@edaleman2758 No it’s not.
1
@samjones7038 I also forgot to say that re your original post that if you are still on 35k after 20 years then that teacher isn’t very good at their job! By that time you’d expect to be on a leading practitioner’s salary and we both know that’s a lot more than 35k don’t we?..
1
@samjones7038 No Sam. My wife, sister and brother are all teachers and yes she works after hours like most teachers do but then still gets the whole off summer off on holiday. If you are still on 35k after 20 years in the job I’d say it’s time to look elsewhere. As you are complaining about money why not apply to become one of these train drivers that earn thousands for just sitting on their arses pushing buttons all day. It sounds like the usual “I’ve got a degree” nonsense Sam. Masters or not doesn’t give you the right to earn more than everyone else. Don’t like it? Then get another job or get yourself on the picket line.
1
@samjones7038 Yes as you’ve gone down the route of watching GB news then get all frothy over someone’s wages Sam. As I’ve said you’ve been gaslit slowly over the years to believe that one section of society is worth more than another. I’m in full agreement that nurses and teachers should earn more but comparing a train drivers wage then saying they are greedy because they want a pay rise not a cut after 4 years without one on some lines is proof that channels like this are working, why do you always see MPs dropping drivers money into their comments when they have only just started taking action? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist ( or teacher ) to work it out does it? My wife works at an outstanding ofsted school too, so what? I stand by my comment that IF you are still on the same money after being in the job 20 years you ain’t that bright! Same goes for news readers on £1000 an hour trying to wind you people up - Let’s all work for £5 an hour and doff our caps when we go to work in the morning, maybe people like yourself will be happy then. There’s a shortage of nurses not just because of the job and what it entails but because the myopic and xenophobic put their X in the wrong box a while ago sending 48,000 back to where they came from. Ask most GBnews viewers who and how they voted and see what they say.
1
@brucemitchell4895 How do you know that train driving isn’t a hard job if you’ve never done it? How do you get to work? If you are still on the same money than 8 years ago maybe you need to join a union Bruce.
1
@brucemitchell4895 What’s normal money? I know a friends son who works in a city bank and has had bonuses not far off a drivers money. Is he overpaid too?
1
@ProudBtitish So in your working life did you not receive any pay increases then?
