Comments by "Stephen Jon" (@stephenjon3502) on "Private school parents to take HIT as Labour pledge to INCREASE VAT to fund childcare plans" video.
About time private schools pay what they should be paying. This will obviously pee of the Range Rover brigade but if they really want to put their children through independent schooling then they should pay for it.

@JACB006 No. Putting your child in an independent school is a choice. No refunds or tax incentives should be given. End of.
2
@djdoolittle1315 Yes. Hopefully all the rich will get properly hammered. About time all the dodgy loopholes that the self employed get are closed too.
2
The UK is already a third country Felix.
2
Agreed, and if you can’t afford to send them to private schools the same applies.

@CalumRoberts-i1x All those things you have mentioned have happened under the Tories. Labour haven’t been in charge.
1
@mickkelly8153 Yes but if Labour get in and do what they say those bills will have another 20% added on. No more charitable status tax avoidance😊
1
What about the posh people that have a preference for young children? That’s been going on for decades.
1
It’s already broke. I suppose the Reform plc will make it all go away, especially giving everyone a 20k tax allowance - NOT.
1
@Bakersvill Yes, Just like Ben Habib who was predicted to get in when Wellingborough had a by election and got beat by the outgoing ( P Boner ) MPs girlfriend into third place. I applaud your optimistic outlook though, especially as Reform have (allegedly) just had to get rid of some of their candidates after certain views ( comparing black people to baboons ) have just surfaced. 👏🏻

@Annomous-58 Private schooling and healthcare is a choice. No point in saying you are double taxed as you are quite welcome to do what most people have to do and use the state system.
1
@paulchadwick9419 It’s a choice Paul. You will find the people moaning about the extra money needed are probably pushing themselves to put their children thru private education to look good at the Rugby club on Sunday mornings.
1
@stequality It’s been a bed of roses under the Tories hasn’t it?
1
@stemclaren Nothing against anyone. The problem is all the loopholes that self employed People can use to pay less tax and peanut NI contributions. All this needs stopping. One of my neighbours thinks he’s a patriot, yet working as an accountant he’s spent his working life telling others how to get out of paying taxes and for claiming for just about everything including furlough even though he works from home anyway. All my builder mates do cash in hand work and then moan about Eastern Europeans etc working and taking jobs. It’s the double standards that pss me off. From the school side of things the stopping of charitable status couldn’t come quick enough. If you want to play then you need to pay.
1
@Felix-rising You will still pay tax on your pension if it’s over the allowance threshold. Private pensions are sticky essentially taxed twice.
1
@paradox7358 Not if their children are talented in anyway. One of our children was offered scholarships at 3 different independent schools all over 30k a year to attend because of his sporting talents. Most independent schools have a large amount on various bursaries or scholarships. Other than that why would you attempt to put yourself thru all the hassle of trying to keep up with the Joneses. It’s comparable to buying a Bentley then taking it to the local garage to fix.

@marylauder3374 Can I have a refund from all the extra money I’m paying out for the mortgage free pensioners that voted for for Brexit and caused financial losses in my household? What about all the Tory voters that sat at home for a year on free money causing inflation to go through the roof? Silly way of thinking..
1
@allenjenkins-xd5uiWho is Jacob?
1
@mickkelly8153 I’d wager that Mary is a pensioner and has benefitted from the system in one way or another. Lots of people ( Tories ) hate socialism unless they are like my neighbours and sat at home for a year on furlough claiming free money whilst the rest of us in that nasty public sector who are always striking went to work and risked our lives keeping the wheels turning…

The old chestnut of the rich moving away has been mentioned for years. Let them go if they don’t want to pay what they should be paying.
1
@karenrustem5333 The UK has been sold off bit by bit since Thatcher was in power. The Tories have sold off over half of London to the Middle East. The working class were suckered into believing that they would sort everything out and by Cameron expecting normal people to understand the problems of what would happen if we were made a third country is plain delusional. If you voted for the Tories and/or Brexit then unfortunately you need to accept you helped in the things you are now complaining about.
1
@paulchadwick9419 It seems that the gaslighting that worked on the people for Brexit is now working on them again in the Reform Echo chamber. They are too entrenched to realise they are being mugged off again.
1
@karenrustem5333 It was the Tories that joined the EU Karen. If you actually check the figures Labour sent more back via Dublin lll than the Tories, unfortunately we can’t use that now as we are no longer a member which is quite ironic. And you won’t get £30 an hour for picking fruit n veg in a field or for cleaning trains thru the night. That old chestnut of foreigners stopping Brits getting jobs is nonsense. These are similar to the Windrush generation - here to do jobs that the Brits wouldn’t or couldn’t do at that particular time. Lots went straight into our NHS. Imo if people come here to work and pay tax I don’t have a problem, it’s only the pss takers that need sorting but as we all know most come to claim asylum as they know we have no way in sending them back to any safe country now. It’s Brexit voters that caused that one.

Of course it will be really good with more multi millionaires/billionaires running the country😂
