Now apply that to a tube train in August rush hour in a deep level tube tunnel with over a thousand people on board. It doesn’t happen, the operator has to fault find and rectify the defect to get the train moving. All that with 750v dc and on some lines next to 25,000vAC Rules and regulations that apply and have to be learned and remembered and on most days different operating problems. 2 totally different jobs with different responsibilities and different wages that apply.

  6. No train drivers regularly turn up late. There are procedures that will have you out on your ear if you did that. It does happen though. So proves how important they are.

If a train driver is “ unskilled “ why does it take up to 12 months to qualify for the role and why are there so many failures throughout the selection process? I’d also like to know what “ advice and training “ you normally charge for? Please enlighten me.

  16.  @harryboy3305 Do you get weekends or bank holidays off? Christmas or new year off? Paid annual leave? Sick pay? Paternity leave? Protection against harassment? If you do then you can thank union members losing money fighting for those conditions.
