The rail companies biggest expense is workers ( especially drivers ) salaries. One reason they keep mentioning them on various media outlets to wind up the silly people. They have trying to dumb down the various grades for years so they can use it as an excuse to pay less. They are also hoping to make the conditions worse in the hope that people leave which saves them paying out.

@davidrobertsemail No Billy. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere they can apply anywhere they want. Safe country rules only apply if they have family members with settled status in another country. We can’t send them back under the Dublin agreement because we ARE NO LONGER IN THE EU.
3
@nickcoppard5335 Because they can’t. Bravermans boat bill has already been pulled to pieces by lawyers far more competent than her.
3
How would you do that if it’s taken out your wages before you are paid? Do you mean council tax?
3
@lyndagripton4406 Only if you want a private only health service
3
It’s how people down the pub speak - nothing new. I’m more concerned with what Reform will do to the NHS.
3
Won't happen.
3
They should. About time we had a general strike. Nurses pay and conditions are nothing to do with rail workers. Looks like you've been gaslit Allan.
3
Yes, let's go and loot a Vape shop...
3
@johnross2924 🤣 Nah , I'm inglish so that makes me an expat doesn't it? Either way, I'm happy to be called anything as long as I can get off this Island. 🤞
3
You need to look at the managers salaries which far outstrip those of train drivers. Most of them only do 6 hours a day and a lot of them sit watching the TV .
3
@PrivateWalker Another one that's been suckered in by the looks of it Matthew - those on a £1000 an hour telling those on minimum wage that the one's earning £35 an hour are the problem. Your comment proves that a decade of gaslighting by a RW nedia has worked on people that can't think for themselves. And how would you know it's an easy job? Have you done it?
3
@Summitic Yes, but we don't have any money to give to the NHS staff as they aren't important..
3
Enjoy😂

Strange concept considering if the Tories or Reform were in charge you’d all be out of a job within 18 months
3
Q all the reform echo chamber saying it’s a fix because Dennis from Gt Yarmouth didn’t get his voting paper in time because he was on holiday in Dubai complaining about Muslims
3
Not really. Shareholders earn massive amounts of money in wages and bonuses but you won't see any of them at 2.30 am in winter prepping a train for service.
3
Won't work with drivers Chappers. Some contractual jobs like cleaning yes but not many other people will be able to just jump into a job. It ain't a warehouse.
3
Get a bike.
3
@SA-ff9uc You've missed my point. Not surprised though.
3
@onetyrefire9722 Please stop quoting facts Onetyrefire as it will upset all the commenters that think the RMT should be striking for nurses even though they don't represent them.
3
@campbell3711 Ah, so even though there’s lots more flooding in now we’ve got a Tory government and left the EU you think it’s better? 🤩 Amazing 🙄
3
BREXIT and paying businesses furlough money that's caused it. Nothing to do with strikes.
3
Starmer’s fault for allowing too much rain to fall from the sky. Please sign the petition to stop him from doing this. The Will of the people needs to act now before it rains again.
2
Vote for Reform and have a Pakistani running the country
2
Don’t care. If a pint costs a quid more I’m happy to pay that if they banned smelly people.
2
@tonybuttie3038 Have you ever done any of the jobs mentioned? If not how would you know? Would it be because you read it in the Evening Standard and believe everything the RW media tells you?
2
@stephenhodgkinson2049 You are wasting your breath Stephen. People would much rather be force fed complete bollox and believe what some presenters on LBC tell them. ( you know the ones on 6 grand a show....)
2
@Hoorna it's like when Tony gets a bone r only it's slightly hard.
2
@InsanitiesBrother No. A 4 year pay deal was already in place. See 2+2 doesn't equal 9.
2
So you support the unions but find strike action disgraceful? Makes complete sense. No it doesn't. I'm confused.
2
@ally11488 She's too busy at Dover, full on karen mode watching the rubber boats coming in.
2
Heartbreaking.
2
@mariogmajner6549 Of course Bojo the clown has Islam very close to his letterbox(es)
2
@jamescorneliustaylor6997 I think Bojo has it just in case he needs to redecorate.
2
@elkpaz560 there were recruitment offices opened up in the Caribbean by the NHS and London Transport. They wanted to recruit well educated people to do jobs they couldn’t get the English to touch.
2
Caribbean foods far better than English stodge.
2
@veronicavaliant3054 Of course I did Karen. I will prefer to get my info from the people who were actually on the ship rather than The Sun & Facebook Let me know when next month's conspiracy turns up 🖖
2
@veronicavaliant3054 Nonsense veronica. You’ve just made it up. That’s the problem with people who have a certain mindset, you just believe any old waffle as long as it fits in with your myopia.
2
Tax cigarettes more - maybe add 100% to the price and put it all into the NHS Then get the self employed to start paying more NI as they get away with paying peanuts.
2
The only bonus of poundshop Thatcher in charge is Patel resigning. Maybe she could take a holiday to Rwanda.
2
No. They are on strike.
2
@KnightmareUSA I wouldn't believe anything from Farages mouth. City trader only interested in his hedge funds.
2
@avid8921 Mogg did say 50 years before we benefit. The first thing he did was move his company to the EU. Another do as I say merchant that the gullible working class haven't cottoned onto.
2
@delux976 Pop to your local A&E on a Saturday night. Normally lots of Stone Island clad chav types that are preventing them from having a break.
2
@strangemagic5502 Is that the Express, Sun or Mail nurses station?
2
@tomvandersteen5880 There’s a full fact post about the 3.8 million Eastern Europeans that originally Came over and Jons mentioned the ones on benefits ( 800k ) but forgot that the nigh on 3m others paid FOUR times into the UKs coffers than their counterparts took out. Then you could argue that 48,000 that were working in the NHS ( again paying taxes and NI ) are another reason that our health service is knackered but Jons again picking and choosing the others doing minimal pay work such as fruit n veg picking thinking that if it were only British doing those jobs then they would be paid £25 plus an hour!! Delusional.
2
@jonsimmons4150 You forgot to mention the rebate Jon, that and the money sent back into the UK economy for various projects and subsidies. Your outlook is like one of my friends in that he thinks his taxes should just go into things that he uses. If we all had such a myopic mindset then no one would have anything. Perfect example is the 170million pound poor areas like Stoke ( the commons hooligans area no less ) received from the EU which has now been replaced with a whopping 11 million so they will now be even poorer. Gaslit mugs.
2
@polaris7122 Not through the Dublin agreement but the rush was on to get in before the transition period was over. If the rules were correctly applied then yes we could have sent people back. I presume you blame Labour for all this even though they weren’t in charge at the time?
