Your outlook is like one of my friends in that he thinks his taxes should just go into things that he uses. If we all had such a myopic mindset then no one would have anything. Perfect example is the 170million pound poor areas like Stoke ( the commons hooligans area no less ) received from the EU which has now been replaced with a whopping 11 million so they will now be even poorer. Then you could argue that 48,000 that were working in the NHS ( again paying taxes and NI ) are another reason that our health service is knackered but Jons again picking and choosing the others doing minimal pay work such as fruit n veg picking thinking that if it were only British doing those jobs then they would be paid £25 plus an hour!! Delusional.

The only levelling up the Tories know are when they are doing a line of Charlie😂

  34.  @lol-pz1ni  The reason that people are on minimum wage is because they work zero hour contracts and jobs where wages have been kept historically low by the tories. I wouldn't expect someone with the responsibility of a train driver to be on minimum wage. Shall we have a race to the bottom to suit you? Do you work? If so do you get weekends off? Annual leave? Anti discrimination laws? Etc etc. Where do you think those benefits came from?

  35.  @lol-pz1ni  Slight contradiction in your post lol as you've said you aren't against people striking but think that rail staff are holding the country to ransom! You need to make your mind up. How do you think workers today gained protection against discrimination, paid holidays, pensions, contractual hours, etc It was because of unions like RMT and ASLEF sticking up for their workers. A lot of comments regarding train drivers as unskilled when they couldn't be more further from the truth, one reason it takes so long to fully qualify, hence the reason why they are paid a decent wage.

  44.  @ctb1977  I agree industry standards dictate what rail staff are paid. They are entitled like everyone else to a pay rise however. Not anyone can jump on the front and drive a train hence why the money is reasonable. The rail companies cannot say they can't afford it when they are paying the CEO 600k a year and are making huge profits on the backs of the rail workers that are currently striking. Most people complain about drivers salaries because they are jealous , one of them having strong unions and two because they have been brainwashed by the RW media for over a decade. And I'm in full agreement that people like nurses and teachers ( i have both in my family ) should be paid more but that lays with a tory government and not the fault of rail workers. That is a broken record.
