@torquetorque1777 Another one who's jealous.

@SA-ff9uc Take a look at the profits that the rail companies make. Who gets up at 2am to drive those trains and make all that money?
4
@SA-ff9uc Avanti - up to 11 million. Crosscountry up to 12 million. Arriva rail up to 6 million. MTR xrail up to 7 million. Network Rail doesn't pay shareholders but gives its senior staff up to 20% of their salaries ( CEO on £588k ) All your silly comments on train drivers salaries should be pointed in another direction SA, after all these are the men and women that move the trains and allow these fat cats to coin it in.

@onetyrefire9722 Please stop quoting facts Onetyrefire as it will upset all the commenters that think the RMT should be striking for nurses even though they don't represent them.

@SA-ff9uc You've missed my point. Not surprised though.

Get a bike.

Won't work with drivers Chappers. Some contractual jobs like cleaning yes but not many other people will be able to just jump into a job. It ain't a warehouse.
3
Not really. Shareholders earn massive amounts of money in wages and bonuses but you won't see any of them at 2.30 am in winter prepping a train for service.
3
@johnmoore9862 It was on Facebook. Mick lynch also gets 35 weeks leave every year. He drives a Ferrari and lives in a 6.5 million pound west London home with a 4 acre garden. Dennis also forgot to mention that if Mick lynch hits 10 strikes in a year then his bonus is paid out for another 2.6 million.

They've been running on the Underground for years. Another bozo who hasn't a scooby. Change the record.

@6079_SMITH_W They go up because the government ( unlike in Europe) don't pay into the system enough. Fares will rise in line with inflation, so why shouldn't a railworkers salary?
2
That's 8% over 2 years audrey. In my comprehensive maths class that would equal 4% a year.

@johnbrennan7175 Maybe if someone earning 600k plus bonuses gave the rail staff who worked all thru that pandemic whilst he sat safely at his home desk a fair pay rise and not try to rip up contracts that have been in place for years they wouldn't have to strike.
1
@onetyrefire9722 That's because the media has drip fed all the idiots to believe that everyone who works within the industry earns 60k plus. They have done a brilliant job of getting people wound up hence the red wall voting tory to push brexit thru making them believe that the country would get rid of foreigners. As you mentioned look at P&O!
1
@onetyrefire9722 Just look thru the comments. Everyone and their dog mentions drivers money. There's lots of other grades that keep the wheels turning for the board to earn huge salaries. Having worked on the railway for 33 years you could not help notice that there's far too many middle managers on 70k plus sitting on their arses watching tv all day.
1
@tinfoilhat4837 Why do you people keep going on about 60k ? Not everyone on the railway drives a train you 🍩
1
Think you are the 5th different person comparing working in a warehouse to that of ( presumably ) a train driver. I've done both and loading lorries on a fork lift and pushing a broom around is nothing compared to getting out of a train cab in driving sleet in the middle of winter at 4.30 am to scrape the juice rails because that trains stalled over a frozen section of track.
1
@TheSportyGamer97 The fares will go up at the rate of inflation anyway. The rail system in the UK is in comparison to most of Europe the most under funded by central government - especially the London underground the oldest metro system in the world. Wake up mate. You've had over a decade of being force fed complete RW bollox and it shows its working.
1
@Chappers.Gaming Look at P&O. What they did to the staff there was unbelievable. Proves that Brexit promises about keeping UK staff were all bollox. There's lots of comments from people thinking you can replace a fully qualified train driver with an agency worker. Madness.

Weird comment considering how much money has been printed by the tories over the last few years. Socialism in the form of paying people to sit at home all day was ok being the tories did it then?

@markwilson4052 😂

@19Allan91 That's because they are still in talks. If there's no movement then the strikes go ahead. They are always well advertised.
