That’s the way it is but I would expect someone as intelligent as a paramedic not to get drawn into the usual “ they earn more than me for doing nothing “ route. Your wages are grossly underpaid but that’s not the fault of train drivers. It’s the Tories who have consistently voted to NOT give NHS workers a decent wage and the muppets that voted for them over the last decade and half. Divide and rule. I have family in the NHS and Education and they all earn shite money. If you can qualify as a paramedic you should be able to pass the drivers course. I strongly suggest you apply. You will then only see what we do for that pay packet.

  7. Not really. Just Labour getting the pay deals that have been dragging on for years sorted. I was a driver for over 3 decades and at no point have I ever been paid more than my specialist in Harley St who charges £269 per hour.

  11. You must be crap at your job then. My mate was getting a grand a day PAT testing at the Spurs ground when it was being built. And let’s not forget that if you are self employed you pay peanut tax and NI contributions. Do you wack everything thru the business like my mate does then moan about train drivers who pay 40% on part of their salaries?..

Just imagine how the private sector who work 9-5 Mon-Fri with EVERY weekend and bank holiday off, 2 weeks shutdown at Christmas/New year, constant fag breaks, hour and half for pub lunches and bonuses everywhere would get on with no train or bus services, no teachers, no NHS, no plod, no post delivered, no rubbish collected. Take a train driver that turns up late at 4am by 15 minutes with his train blocking the depot then apply the same logic to a banker ( no rhyming slang) or any other suited waster turning up 15 minutes late for a meeting. 3 guesses who the most important person would be Steve?….
