Min Tin How exactly did Churchill 'bring war?' He wasn't even in a government position between 1929 & 1939. So, he made speeches warning about German military expansion. Was he wrong?

you mean that Churchill was responsible for the failure of the Government of Bengal to admit how serious the crisis was, or for the hoarding by speculators of foodstuffs, or for the loss of food imports from Malaya, or for FDR's refusal to allow transfer of allied merchant shipping? You do know that Churchill took food distribution out of the hands of the Bengal administration and gave to the Anglo-Indian army, or that he diverted grain shipments from Australia to India? No, of course you don't, because it doesn't fit your prejudiced agenda. Churchill was certainly guilty of not realising that the Bengal administration were making light of the situation as it developed. Obviously, he should have done. After all, it is not that, in 1943, he had anything else on his mind, is it?

Churchill proposed a strategy that he believed offered an alternative to the mincing machine of the Western Front. Asquith did not have to go along with it, but he, and his military advisors, did. Churchill did not plan the operation, any shortcomings were the responsibility of the Admirals & Generals who did. At best, you have an ill-informed, two dimensional, view of Gallipoli.

@fergar9264 Herbert Asquith was hardly 'nobility.' He was born in Yorkshire, he was a member of the Liberal Party, and his family ran a wool business. Gallipoli was seen as a means of taking the Ottoman Empire out of the war, thus placing pressure on Germany and the Hapsburg Empire, and, hopefully, minimizing the slaughter on the Western Front. Isn't it easy to be condemnatory 100 years after the event?
