  1. I think they were speaking for the public. In the early weeks no-one thought this would turn into a pandemic. It was related to SARS so the first thought was that it would be similar. The may have expected an epidemic but not this pandemic. I think your rant is really uncalled for. There are no people alive who have been through such an event.
