He killed two people and you want only one year? Really, what is wrong with you?
1
No. He killed two people.
1
@giubbino9036 It was his intention to do an illegal and highly dangerous street. He knew exactly what he was doing is wrong and illegal and highly dangerous. He just didn't care about innocent bystanders. He knew the dangers and the risks and he decided that having fun is still more important. That was his intention and deliberate decision.
1
@leilaslife6451 He was doing something incredibly dangerous that led to the death of innocent people. He accepted the possibility of killing someone when he decided to do an illegal and highly dangerous street race.
1
@leilaslife6451 That's not true. What you described is murder. There is a difference between murder and killing. And in Cameron's case it was a reckless manslaughter which is killing.
1
@leilaslife6451 He willingly killed two people. He is a killer by every definition of the word.
1
@leilaslife6451 He is a real criminal and a killer.
1
The world accident would imply that he did nothing wrong and bad things just tend to happen. That is not the case here. He was doing an illegal and highly dangerous street race. He knew exactly what he was doing is wrong and illegal and highly dangerous. He knew the dangers and the consequences of his actions and he just didn't care about innocent bystanders. That was a conscious and deliberate decision to put innocents lives in danger. That's not an accident. That's a selfish and reckless manslaughter. If he would have followed the rules nothing would have happened. But he deliberately decided not to. He accepted the possibility of killing someone when he decided to do an illegal street race. And saying the woman was in a bad place is very misleading as well. She had every right and reason to be there. She was legally crossing the street. She never had a chance because Cameron and his friend decided that having fun is more important than people's lives.
1
This has nothing to do with alcohol
1
He can apply for parole after completing 85% of his sentence. Not Sooner
1
What's the alternative? Let all criminals run free without consequences?
1
@ericgarretson9464 He was recklessly racing with a speed of 102 mph through a residential area. Racing is not a trivial offense. It's a serious crime because it is so dangerous. It was his intention to drive. He made the conscious decision that having fun is more important than people's and now he has to face the consequences for his crimes.
1
@AFLnewsNtruthatstorytime 5 years is definitely not enough for killing two people
1
Shut up
1
He killed two people. He deserves every second of those 24 years.
1
He is already a criminal and a killer.
1
@زهراء-ه9م I explained why it wasn't an accident. An illegal street race is not an accident. It was a conscious and deliberate decision to put innocents in danger. I'm not American. I am German.
1
@زهراء-ه9م He killed two people. My heart goes to the victims, not the killer.
1
Of course she didn't
1
He had many second chances. He was pulled over many times for speeding. Those were his chances. Some people will never learn. And now he has killed two people and he must face the consequences for his crimes.
1
@DeezNuts-zy5ci The judge said he couldn't give him the minimum sentence because Cameron had a really bad and excessive habit of speeding and racing. He didn't learn. It was only a matter of time until someone dies because of him. He would have not stopped his habit.
1
@DeezNuts-zy5ci Opinions are opinions. That doesn't make mine wrong. The law demands a minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum sentence of 30 years. The judge even went easy on him and gave him 24 years. And that's appropriate. And they said it perfectly in the court "it was a crash, not an accident". An accident would imply that you didn't do anything wrong on purpose and things just tend to happen and that is not what happened. It was a conscious and deliberate decision to put innocents in danger and to break the law. He knew exactly what he was doing is wrong and illegal and highly dangerous. He knew the dangers and the consequences. He just didn't care about innocent bystanders. By doing an illegal street race he accepted the possibility of killing someone. Having fun was more important to him than the lives of innocent bystanders. This was not an accident. This is a case of a selfish and reckless manslaughter and that's what he was charged with. A car is not a toy. When you drive like that you're pretty much asking for someone to get killed. You can't just do an illegal street race on a busy public street, race absolutely recklessly with a speed of over 100 mph through a residential area and then say you didn't mean to hurt anyone. It doesn't work like that. You know the risks, you you what could happen and you accepted the possibility of killing someone. That was a conscious decision. I still stand by my opinion. 24 years are more than fair to him. He could have even received the maximum punishment of 30 years and it would still be justified and within the law.
1
@DeezNuts-zy5ci Then elaborate.
1
@Nina.2002 No problem
1
@Nina.2002 When did I disrespect your opinion? And I am very familiar with this case.
1
You are correct. If he planned on killing them he would have gotten a life sentence.
1
Such nonsense
1
For killing two innocent people? I don't think so
1
He's 18 and not a child. He's responsible for his own actions.
1
The court didn't destroy a life. He brought this upon himself. He knew all the risks and consequences.
1
@ии.ии-х8ъ There is no evidence that the speed was reduced to 40. She never had a chance. She was careful and legally crossing the street. She couldn't predict that they would be racing with a proven speed of over 100 mph through a residential area. Stop defending him. You know it's all his fault. He decided to break the law and to put innocent people in danger.
1
@ии.ии-х8ъ The 102 mph was not the media. His lawyer confirmed it. And he admitted also the fact that he was racing.
1
@ии.ии-х8ъ I was watching the entire trial. You're just spreading lies.
1
@ии.ии-х8ъ You are a disgusting human being for even suggesting she wanted to die. This 1.25 million were normal accidents. This was not. This was a selfish and reckless manslaughter. He deserves every second of those 24 years in prison.
1
@ии.ии-х8ъ He's not a scapegoat. The sentence is more than fair.
1
@Sean-bu1kc I don't think so for one reason. He will be free in 24 years. He can live his life. The two innocent people he has killed are forever gone. He destroyed an entire family.
1
The sentence is 24 years
1
𝔩𝔢𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔯𝔤𝔬 It's alright. If you don't believe in the concept of hell you'll be fine.
1
@krisl2838 If he killed them on purpose he would have gotten a life sentence. I think 12 years per death is appropriate. If you deliberately do something illegal and extremely dangerous you are responsible and you must face the consequences of something goes wrong.
1
@krisl2838 Every single child can tell you how dangerous an illegal street race is. He knew exactly what he was doing is wrong and illegal and highly dangerous. He just didn't care about innocent bystanders. Driving requires responsibility. It was his intention to break the law.
1
Because intention is important.
1
First of all he's not a kid. He's an adult man who's responsible for his actions. And he is a criminal and a killer.
1
Not a threat to society? Those two innocent people who have been brutally killed by him beg to differ.
1
Racing is not a mistake. It's a conscious and deliberate decision.
1
At the time of the crash he was an 18 year old adult man who's fully responsible for his actions. 24 years are more than fair to him for brutally killing two innocent people.
1
There is even a phone call that was presented to the court where Cameron called his mother moments after the crash and he told her he's sorry and that he has personally killed two people.
1
There was no media pressure. They pledged guilty way before there was any media. They did do it. If you think they're lying then belive the police and witnesses. And as if that wasn't enough there is the Black Box that proved he was racing. But all of them, Cameron, John, the police and the witnesses are saying the same thing. Cameron was doing an illegal street race in which he has killed two people.
1
@user-po6vs3ex1w Cameron admitted it as well. This trial was not about finding out weather or not Cameron is guilty or not. That was never a question. He admitted his guilt. The only purpose of this trial was to find a proper punishment and it did. 24 years are more than fair to him for killing two innocent people.
1
I know. That makes it even worse that he was racing.
1
He wont. He has to at least serve 85% of his sentence before he can even apply for parole. That's the law in Florida.
