It's only 12 years per death. Sounds fair to me.

He was doing an illegal street race on purpose

She was looking. It was free. But having a stroller takes time. If Cameron drove with an appropriate pace nothing would have happened. She would have had the time she needed. But she couldn't predict that he was racing. He was recklessly racing with a speed of 102 mph through a residential area with a speed limit of 40. Just think about how fast 102 mph are and how much distance it covers in only a few seconds. She never had a chance.
4
Don't put that to the test.
4
Less than 5 years for brutally killing two innocent people? What is wrong with you
4
@Sk3llyT0NN True. If he intentionally killed them he would have gotten a life sentence.

She was not jaywalking. She was legally crossing the street. Racing is not a trivial offense. It's a serious crime because it is so dangerous. He was recklessly racing with a speed of 102 mph through a residential area. When you drive like that you're pretty much asking for someone to get killed. And don't say it's an unintentional accident, it is not. Racing is not an accident. Racing is a conscious and deliberate decision to put innocents in danger. He knew exactly what he was doing is wrong and illegal and highly dangerous. He knew the dangers and the consequences. He just didn't care about innocent bystanders. They said it perfectly in the court "it was a crash, not an accident". This was a selfish and reckless manslaughter. 12 years per death are more than fair to him. He brutally killed two innocent people and destroyed an entire family after all. When you drive like that on a residential area you're pretty much asking for someone to get killed.
4
No. That's why you don't do illegal street races
4
There are but they won't change anything. Petitions don't work like that

@Matp345 She looked for cars. The street was empty. She decided to cross the road with a stroller which takes more time and makes you less movable. Then came Cameron racing out of nowhere with a speed of 102 mph on a residential area with a speed limit of 40. Think about how fast 102 mph is and how much distance it covers in only a few seconds. She never had a chance. If he drove with an appropriate pace nothing would have happened because he would have had the time to see them and react to it. But that's not possible of course when you're doing an illegal street race with a ridiculous speed. She did nothing wrong. She was the victim of an illegal and highly dangerous street race. Your friend did nothing wrong.

She was legally crossing the street. Like people do.

Being only 24 years is the second chance
2
Racing is not an accident. It was a conscious and deliberate decision to put innocents in danger. He knew exactly what he was doing. It was not an accident. When you drive like that that's not different than shooting a gun. He willingly killed two people. He knew how dangerous it is.
2
It was not an accident. She was legally crossing the street. He killed them because he was doing an illegal street race.
2
@saraali1538 Because she couldn't predict that they were racing. She did nothing wrong.
2
It's just a car. The car is just a tool. It didn't kill people he did. He could have done that with any car.
2
You're wrong. Racing is not an accident.
2
@nolimar9958 He killed the man's entire family. The is no compensation for such a crime. The fact that it was not on purpose is why it is only 24 years. Otherwise he would have gotten a life sentence. But when you're racing with over 100 mph through a residential area you're pretty much asking for someone to get killed. He was intentionally putting innocent lives in danger.
1
Then research it
1
That is not possible. He must serve at least 85% of the time before he can even apply for parole. That's the law.
1
Yes
1
@MisterAsshole2U Probably not. But he could still kill someone with it and the right speed.
1
He is not innocent
1
It was not jaywalking. She was legally crossing the street. You're delusional.
1
@fanaticcoder3320 You don't need such a crossing. Try to research the law. She was legally crossing the street.
1
Well, he's his lawyer. That's literally his job to get the smallest punishment.
1
Nonsense.
1
He deserves every second of those 24 years in prison
