That leads to a path that we cannot afford to take. Germany in particular has learned it the hard way 80 years ago what it means to start taking away basic human rights from people. We must value human rights.

We can not start to take away basic human rights from people. Germany in particular has learned it the hard way 80 years ago what it means to do that. We cannot afford to take that path again. We must value human rights and human lives. Not only for certain people but everyone including our criminals. For example a fair election is the pillar of democracy and can also not be taken away. Every citizen has the right to vote. And unlike countries like the US, Germany highly values human rights and every prisoner is allowed to vote in the election.
