Not possible. Most major American cities are and have been run by Democrats, for the better part of a century. Democrat politicians will tell you all day long how much they care about poverty and crime, and how hard they work to stop it. Since the largest cities have the most money, said politicians have plenty of resources at their disposal. Therefore, it is ridiculous to say that crime and poverty are high in major American cities. It's not like the people running those cities would intentionally keep people impoverished, to win their votes with promises of financial aid. Nor would they keep crime rates high, to help them scare voters into giving up their freedoms. Nope, that's just unbelievable. Where there is a Democrat super-majority, there is a place with virtually no crime or poverty.

That was the original design. We were individual states that were united by some founding principles, for the sake of commerce and security. It was never supposed to be the top heavy country it has become.

It started with frivolous lawsuits that drove the cost of practicing medicine through the roof (doctors and hospitals pay out the a$$ for malpractice insurance). That was compounded by so many people not paying their hospital bills, that rates went up to account for the loss of revenue. Insurance companies were already largely screwing us over, due to not being a truly free market. Then, they slipped on the sandpaper condom when the government told them they had to provide insurance to everyone. Now you have a basic understanding of why healthcare is so expensive. If people didn't try to get rich off of doctors, other people worked out payment plans with the hospitals, Insurance companies had to actually compete for our business, and government hadn't given them an excuse to jack prices...we'd be doing okay right now. Then there's the whole pharmaceutical side of things but that's a horse of a putrid color.

@Oxymera What do you mean "just as high?" Don't you mean that crime is much higher in rural areas? As you said, those areas are run by evil Republicans who love dead children and hate minorities and poor people. They aren't benevolent like their Democrat counterparts. Their crime rates simply have to be much higher. No other statistical outcome would make sense.

@MAfanwoods37 Whatever do you mean? The Democrat politicians are all benevolent people who only want to help urban communities thrive. They work so hard to ensure that their cities have the best schools and job opportunities possible. That way, they don't have millions of people relying on the state for basic living expenses and then committing crime to supplement. I mean, sure, they _could use welfare programs to keep people down and ensure they vote for the party that always promises to increase the funding of such things but they don't. Why? Because they're just so awesome. We should all strive to be such good people.
