  3. The problem is, the same people who were in congress during Bush's term are still there, writing the legislation. One huge problem is that there are only a few genuine Progressives in Congress. What has to be done, is the nomination process has to be taken over by Progressives, which means actually registering and going out to the primaries and voting for Progressive candidates.

Or 0.22% of 5 million years of geological history Or 22% of 5000 years of geological history Or 88% of 1000 years of geological history The earth can't absorb so much carbon so quickly. Its a slow process.

  6. They are talking about human carbon dioxide emissions compared to the geological emissions since the earth formed. An honest comparison would be comparing human emissions to the geological emissions over the SAME timeframe, as THIS is what is being added to the carbon cycle.

  7. Yes, there was most probably fraud in Florida. But had those who voted for Nader instead of Gore had voted for Gore instead, then it would have certainly resulted in a Gore victory, since even with Bush cheating, he still only made it by the narrowest margin (500 something votes).

  11. They call it climate change because it is FAR more complicated than global warming. Warmer seas mean that more humid air travels towards the poles, warms the icecaps and breaks them up, then travels back south and dumps a bunch of snow on London and Houston. Meanwhile, average nighttime temperatures are up, there are far more record hot days than record cold days, some places are in longterm drought while others are flooding. Hence, CLIMATE CHANGE.

They are calling it climate change, because increased heat means increased means increased cloud, increased cloud means increased precipitation (both rain and snow) and increased precipitation can, in some areas, mean that there are harsher winters with more snow. And in some places, the weather gets drier. But mostly, it means higher temperatures, more record highs, higher night time temperatures, and higher temperatures at the Poles.

  14. Yes the level of atmospheric carbon has been ten times as high in the past. However, the ecosystem was not affected as much because it was a GRADUAL change. Same with the Medieval warming period. Gradual change. Right now, however, the change is NOT gradual, it is sudden, which means that our ecology, our cities, our infrastructure can't cope.

I learned this in a year 7 science textbook years ago. That you are completely ignorant of such a basic concept is shocking to me.
