@PolemicalCommentary Brainwashing? Hardly. The system was originally set up for obedience, but that is changing, and has to change more. But eliminating it, that is not an option.

@quizerry That was Newt working together with clinton. It was not all Newt and was not all Clinton. And the Soviet Union was going to fail anyway. Its very infastructure was failing, all that was needed was to be exposed to capitalism. And the Reagan tax cuts only led to more revenue IN THEORY. In fact, it did no such thing,it led to more poor people enduring more of the burden, and having to borrow more money, credit restrictions being loosened to accomodate, and on until the mortgage crisis

@PolemicalCommentary You were never a kid, were you? If you let a bunch of 14 year old boys do exactly what they wanted, nothing would get done. I know, because I used to be a 14 year old boy myself. You have to LEARN how to fit in to society before you are given the rights and responsibilities of an adult. You can't just do whatever the fuck you want. It does not work that way.

@elmajfudd also lower class white people who resent other poor people because they think they can be rich and don't want their hypothetical income being taxed, even though they will never be earning this income.
1
@flcadam That is not the fault of formal education per se, but due to the fact that schools have been underfunded for decades, and the textbooks are being dumbed down by the Texas Board of Education, and urban decay has set in in the manufacturing centres, meaning a hopeless situation for many families.

@koren1124 You can't get away with leaving school at 14 anymore. Machinery is doing all the jobs 14 year olds used to do nowadays, you need to know a LOT more to cope in the job market.

@orionantares The tea party was taken over by FOX, after Glen Beck started advertising them 24/7. Beck is now their defacto leader, because without him promoting the get togethers, nobody comes to them.

There is no controlling the Teabaggers. The only one who controls the teabaggers is Glen Beck, and he is too erratic to be relied on. Even FOX have had to hire special minders, because all of his staff are hired by his company instead of FOX. If the Republicans rely on the teabaggers, they are truly fucked.
1
@cybervore Actually, that's not Cenk saying that. That was Rush Limbaugh.
1
@quizerry These people are not all about being militant about things like a balanced budget and the constitution and burying the children in debt, they are being militant about whatever Glenn Beck is telling them to be militant about. Besides, who has been ripping the budget and the constitution apart? THE REPUBLICANS. During the 80s Reagan started cutting taxes for the wealthy and increased the military, and government spending has gone up and government effectiveness has gone down.
1
@treez78 FOX have taken the teaparty over. Without them, the rallies are practically nothing. But with them, they are practically useless because FOX calls the agenda, and the FOX agenda only has a few similarities with the teaparty agenda.

@PolemicalCommentary Can you imagine the kind of chaos that would happen if a bunch of fourteen year olds ran the school democratically?
