@larsoveful That's not exactly true. Most other nations of the developed world have a mix of public and private, some have single payer (private hospitals, but the government pays) or completely public, or some private and some public... HOWEVER, all of these are cheaper than the American system, and most of these systems are much, much, more effective.

@romanmir01 Actually, if costs were paid out of pocket, and insurance companies did not exist, then many people would simply forego all treatment. That is the situation before medical insurance was available.

@sylence7 The teabaggers will implode, once enough of them are elected and embarrass the entire nation with their stupidity.

@romanmir01 They did not have MRI's back then. No targeted chemotherapy, most of the drugs that are available now did not exist back then, etc etc.

Just take away everything? You are being TOO GENEROUS. They will do what they can to REMOVE everything that the insurance companies object to THEN they will blame the Democrats for the fact that the unpopular parts remain THEN they will point out at what a complete shambles universal healthcare has become.

@mustansir83 The Democrats are greedy, yes, but the Republicans are BOUGHT.

@sylence7 The problem is that the American version of the Paris mobs have been hijacked by corporations. The teabaggers are completely owned and operated by FOX and Glenn Beck and Koch Industries.

@romanmir01 Before Nixon's day, they could not cure most forms of cancer. of COURSE it would not cost much to go to the doctor. They could not do much. You simply CANNOT compare the medical system of today to the medical system of 1968. But if you compare America's system to others in the industrialised world, you get a far better comparison, that being that America's is more expensive (by a factor of three times), and less effective than most other nations in the developed world.
