  1. The American tax take is already the lowest worldwide when calculated as a percentage of GDP. Paying for the world's largest military as well as the rest of the US government with this low tax take is what has gotten the US government into such collossal debt.

  5. That is the Far Right's answer to everything, good economy? cut taxes. Budget surplus? cut taxes. Bad economy? cut taxes. Budget deficit? cut taxes. Result: As a percentage of GDP, the US is paying the lowest taxes on the planet, yet still has half of the globe's military spending. Something has to give. Result? Inflation, reduction of government services. Here In Australia, taxes are higher, but the recession has not kicked in nearly as severely.

  16. Aryan Troller, they TRIED tax cuts and deregulation for large businesses back in REAGAN's time, and it led to our current problems. Between the New Deal and Reagan, there were very few corporate collapses, and now we have them every few years or so. You can logically explain that this was because REGULATION was WORKING.

John6echo, tattoo removal can help the economy, as you are (a) paying a tattooist, and tattooists spend money, so you are putting money into the local economy, and (b) if somebody has "I love fish and chips" on their forehead, they stand a much better chance of getting work if they have that tattoo removed. However, there was little real increase in the standard of living during world war II because so many men were fighting. The real increase came after, when the soldiers came home with their savings and started spending them.

  29. Cutting taxes will do nothing, as people, regular people, will simply put the money in the bank, and the economy needs to be stimulated. Put in the right places, given to the right people in exchange for services, people who would otherwise be unemployed, and THIS money will circulate and stimulate the economy, not simple tax cuts or Bush's cheques to every American.

And as for Obama being indicted by a "common law Grand Jury" That does not actually mean much at all. After Iraq, Bush was being indicted every other week in one juristiction or another. This kind of indictment does not actually mean squat.
