@TheUsman2000 Ronald Reagan started the rot in the US by massively increasing military expenditure.

@cleanhomer They have good reason to be frightened. Tiananmen square was a near miss for them. They could not stop word getting out even back in 1989 when people only had rolls of film that were hidden inside toilet cisterns and smuggled out of the country internally.

@theagrafiotis Every religion regards nonbelievers and outsiders to be less than themselves. Muslims have taquiyya. $cientologists have fair game. And some of the things some christians like Anne Coulter say about nonchristians... The point is, the extremists of ALL religions do this.
1
@MiloDaemon .... but the interpretation is completely different. For example, look at how muslim women dress. Some dress in a full on burqua, some just dress moderately, not showing too much arm or cleavage, and consider THAT islamic.

@xxdonaldqxxx Behind nearly every viral internet phenomenon, there is usually a marketing budget these days... Problem is, it is hard to tell who is paying for it.
1
@theagrafiotis I went to school with some jewish people... They did not rule the world, they mostly lived in small semidetached student residences off campus in middleclass inner suburbs.
1
@theRevolutionof2012 Zeitgeist is garbage. It is doing more to discredit those wanting real change than anything else.
1
@MiloDaemon The Muslim Brotherhood are not extremists like the Taliban or Iranian Ayatollahs. It is like comparing the Westboro Baptist Church to the Christian Democrats of Germany...
1
@xxdonaldqxxx Cuba is carrying on as communist because they don't want the mafia to return to running the place like under Batista.
1
@maman666 caution is the watchword.
1
@noonesflower Locking up everybody does not work. Ask Erich Honecker.

The big problem in the US is that the rightwing have learned this lesson, and have taken control a LARGE proportion of the populace, keeping them bleating the party line like Squealers sheep on Animal Farm. The result will be (and already has been) attempted rebellion on behalf of the ultrarich.
1
@saebahsan Some nations love their King, because as a hereditary monarch, they are immune from things like political contributions... Jordan and Thailand revere their kings...
1
@Tartersauce101 It is MUCH harder to suppress them these days though. Had Twitter been around in 1956, then the Russians would not have had a chance in Hungary, because the people would have been able to organise.
1
@BorgKing001 Ask an Australian to point to Tunisia on a map, and he or she will get it right in one go. Most Americans would not even place it on the right continent.
1
@TheUsman2000 Reagan started the deregulation that allowed the financial services sector to run amok. He also raised taxes on all but the very wealthy, and massively increased the military budget, while ALSO reducing revenue by cutting taxes for the rich. Tell me, what are his achievements?
1
@sidvidle While the middle east officially stretches from Turkey to Iran, it basically means all nations from North Africa to Iran. If it is Arabic, it is middle eastern...
1
@EngineeringIsMagic The problem is that the Koch Brothers and Freedomworks and FOX and Glenn Beck have been working very very hard at formenting a rightwing revolution.
1
@xxdonaldqxxx They like the Castros better than the Mafia... Better the devil you know I suppose...
1
@alexandertmackay The Saudis are even less educated than the Americans. If there is a revolution, it will be the hardline Wahhabbis, and it will make Iran look positively liberal.
1
@Efferts Yes, and Glenn Beck is working full time to try to make sure they do so on behalf of rich people instead of on their own behalf.
1
@ihaterobbie123 Vietnam has basically taken the Chinese system as their own... State capitalism, with competition but everything bigger than a corner shop is state owned.
1
@THADI0US Too late... The speculators have taken their profits from subprime dirivitives and put it all in causing a massive rise in the price of resources. That is the reason behind the food riots of a few years ago... and why you are paying three times the price for fuel as you did ten years ago.
1
@theagrafiotis The christian old testament is based on the Jewish scriptures. IF all jewish people think that way, all christians do too.... And you do, don't you?
1
@ihaterobbie123 The North Korean military are highly paranoid, probably drugged to the eyeballs on amphetamines or something... They wont give up without a fight.
1
@franksnow79 Lets see: The Egyptian government was backed by the Americans, first under Sadat, and then under Mubarak, and Tunisia had a US backed government, as did most of the nations currently under revolution.
1
@spider879 Too much money is being made on the internet. The elite are not one massive entity... They are two or three thousand people, each of whom are doing what is best for themselves.
